I got an email today from Genealogical Storage Products. I had asked in the past about enlarging their 8x10 flip top negative boxes into a size which could hold ULF negatives.

They have added three new boxes to their line of products for 7x17, 8x20 and 12x20 negative storage. They are not the fliptop boxes but rather they have a removable lid.

Wow, those look like some very fair prices and cool boxes. Thanks for the update.

Hi George,

Great deal! I will be ordering some of these boxes tomorrow.

Thanks.

Sandy

George,

Thanks for that! I ordered a couple of 8x20 boxes. Now the question is: what do people do for envelopes or folders for ULF film?

Paul

Conservation Resources has them (boxes and archival film folders) and they are the company that Michael Smith and Paula Chamlee uses. Excellent products all the way around. They have a web site and Catherine Hollinger can be reached at:

Cheers!

Tsuyoshi,

Thanks. I am doing the same thing with 16x20 interleaving paper. Just looking for something a little more convenient.

Michael,

Thanks, I'll check them out.

Regards,

Paul

I just had a long discussion with Mr. Hollinger after receiving my 12x20 box. I did not realize that the boxes were vertical and not flat. He acknowledged the problem and mentioned that he would change the manufacturing to mimic a film box. I suggested that they should be about 2 or 3" thick with the same sizes of 1/4" wider on each side. I also asked if he would make archival envelopes and he agreed to that also. I mentioned all of the ULF sizes and he agreed that it would not be a problem to put them into production. I felt that a 6" thick box was way to large to hold our expensive film hence the smaller thickness. He said to check out their website in a few days for the new products which is www.Hollingercorp.com. Their current vertical boxes are made to order so I assume that if one wants a vertical style it could be made. But I felt that a flat style would work much better. Mr. Hollinger was very interested in helping in any way he could and could not have been nicer to deal with. Hope this helps.
