Another suggestion of an area I know well is around Marlborough in Wiltshire where you have Avebury, Silbury Hill, West Kennet Long Barrow, A plethora of White Horses within easy reach, The Ridgeway, Stone Henge within reach (but a pain to photograph these days), Savernake Forest, Devizes Caen Hill Locks, the canal runs by Marlborough so canal boats in abundance. Basically lots of photo opportunities and most importantly, lots of really nice country pubs (Wadworths is the local brewery). And pretty central, easy to get to by road or train (Swindon or Pewsey).

Another Vote for Anglesey - liek Dave, I've only ever driven through there and walked around Holyhead while wating for a ferry - would be nice to have a proper look - lots of stones for me to hug too.

How about Cheltenham. We could have a mass photographing of GCHQ on the day of the EDM. And then several days free accomodation at her Majestys pleasure.:D

are you talking about the avatars Stoo? ha ha

I was just looking for a counter-angle to Barry's Ginger Cat.

I think we might need to consider narrowing the field down a bit? Time for a Poll?

Yes, I was thinking it was about time for a poll. With so many suggestions it might be an idea to have two rounds: the first to whittle the locations down to five and then a second to decide the winner.

Don't know if this is all too complicated or not, but seems a logical way forward.

Good idea Brian, although I suggest your first poll should be for the most popular 3 venues.

Bye-the-way. Several members from across the seas have expressed an interest in attending. I have reminded them that APUG events are (or should be)open to all members, so they may want an input into voting for a venue.

Yeh Leon, the Avatars. All we want on one page is yourself, Barry, Ailsa, and Rob and there will be all hell let loose.

It would be nice to see some members from over seas Dave. The more the merrier. Their vote is most welcome.

...
Stoo
Ah ha! The famous Four Puppies Of The Apocalypse riding (well, galumphing) forth...

The West Country would be good from my point of view - hardly know the place - and little chance of any snow  ...

Cheers, Bob.
