TXP and HC110 dil B.

After using Xtol and TXP in medium format for many years, I've recently switched back to HC110 due to economic reasons,plus someone gave me a shitload of HC110 when they closed their darkroom. Kodak's developing time at 68 degrees is 4.75 minutes, so I generally develop at 66 degrees for a little over 5 minutes (I have a chart in the darkroom extrapolating the different time/temp combos). I agitate for the first 30 sec and then 5 sec twice a minute. Getting VERY grainy negs. Much grainier than I remember from using this combo years ago. So much so that it's noticeable in 8x10 enlargements. What am I doing wrong?

the times listed for solution b at 4.75 have been determined to be an error. When these times first came out a year or so ago, it created quite a stir and many trix users just continued to use their "old " times.

In our labs we use hc110 b for tri x at 68degrees for 6 minutes. whether it has more or less grain than you remember would be a personal determination. Sukbject matter will also reveal more or less grain.

Edited Above is what I shot with expired Tri-X , and developed in HC-110, grainy... yes very.

Remeber pre-wet with water exactly 68F for a minute or so before hitting it with the developer. I basically did ( all at 68F )

Pre-wet -> Develop Dil.B for 5 mins -> rinse with water several times -> Fixer (ilford rapid fixer) 4 mins -> wash several rinses. Also I only agitate like once every minute to a minute and a half.
