Tripod Addons (device for holding film holders)

I know I read a thread about an item that hangs on a tripod and has pockets for film holders and other items. I have search APUG but can't find the thread. I think the item is mfg. by "gnaus" (sp).

One very good solution is an item called a "bucket boss" which is a piece of heavy fabric with many pockets in it that carpenters use to turn a five gallon pail into a tool organizer. You may have to slit the sides, but you can figure out a way to drop one right over your tripod and they are very convenient. Mine can hold 5x7 holders, I don't know about 8x10.

You are absolutely correct!
I was caught in a situation where the light was fading and I was hiking back to my car. Suddenly as I rounded a corner an opportunity for a photograph presented itself. I was standing in water and did not have enough hands or pockets to hold my items. I left my bag some distance away on a rock and time and light were running out.

I did manage to make the photo but I screwed it up because I was in too much of a hurry. Had I taken a few seconds longer I would have captured a nice image.
My thinking is if I had someting to hold a film holder or two, a polaroid back and a filter pouch I would be in business.

I use the Gnass gear items and think they are excellent. Of course, you can always lay them on the ground if it is windy. I have one for regular 4 x 5 film holders and another one for Readiloads.

Gary, I was also looking for a way to have things organized and at hand. I got a photo vest. I put a handful of 4x5 holders in one lower large pocket and my meter in the other. Other pockets are dedicated to filters, focuser, stopwatch, notebook, pens... There are large pockets on the back and you can put a small sheet of plastic there to pull out and kneel on if need be or to put your camera bag on if it's wet out. I use a camera bag to hold the camera, focusing cloth and lenses. So basically, for my usual method of shooting from nearby the car, I use the vest as a camera bag and slip it on when ready to photograph. Everything I need is at hand. Just tried this method for the first time yesterday and it was a small bit cumbersome having stuff hanging off but very convenient. Hope this helps.

Silvestri do a tripod pouch doodah too.

I looked at the Gnass gear but was put off by the carriage costs to the UK. In the end, I opted for a version made by Silvestri. It holds up to 6 DDS and has a mesh pocket for odds and ends.

The Gnass gear is first rate and worth the wait. What do I mean? I currently have items on order for over a month. If you happen to order something when it is out of stock, you may have to wait awhile for the next production run.
