Forgive me if this has been dealt with previously, but I'm trying to use my new RZ67 to trigger flash - Canon speedlights or Bowens strobes. I have pocketwizard TT5 and MiniTTI (for Canon) and a pair of Yongnuo 603s.

I tried the Yongnuos first - principally because the MiniTT1 is too big to fit in RZ's hotshoe. Nothing seemed to work. Attached back without film, withdrew slide and pressed shutter multiple times, but no response from the triggers.

Am I right in thinking I'd be better off connecting one of the Yongnuos to the PC sync on the lens? I don't have the right cable to do that at present, but will buy one if that's the recommended route.

I'd rather use the PWs - in basic trigger mode - but there's no way (I think) to connect the MiniTT1 to the lens.

Do you think my hotshoe is not functioning? Am I being stupid? All suggestions gratefully received, Richard

Don't know about the RZ, but on the RB it's a cold shoe - I think the RZ only got a hot shoe with the "II" or newer models.

A cold shoe isn't wired to the shutter, it's just a "holder". You may need to synch with a cable to the lens.

And some hot shoes won't trigger some specific flashes - my radio trigger won't trigger my old Vivtar stuff via the shoe, for instance - I can connect it to the shoe as a way to fasten it phsyically, but I have to use the 285 cable.
