Tri-X 400 and Portra 400 in a bagpack, in Italy?

Hey guys,
I plan on doing an interrail trip through Europe with a couple of friends. We will travel by train and mostly stay in cheap hostels I guess. The film that I will carry with me (Tri-X 400, Portra 400 and Ektar 100) will stay in my bagpack and from times it will be exposed to pretty warm temperatures. I mean we will definitel add Italy to our route. The whole trip will only last roughly two weeks. Now my question. Will the film lose heavily lose quality because of the temperature and if so, is there a film that may be more durable?

If you protect the films from direct sunlight such that the temperature in the bag is roughly the same as the ambient temperature then it should be fine. The real danger for film is exposure for hours to the direct sun where it can effectively "fry"

What pentaxuser said....if you're really worried about it I guess you could get a small lightweight cooler (I'm thinking of a few I've seen that are collapsible, waterproof fabric types) and keep a coldpak in it.
But honestly, if you're there for 2 weeks and keep it out of the direct sun you'll be totally fine.

Should be fine, I travelled with film for 4 weeks in Nepal during summer 40C no air con and very humid. I had no issues with any film. Just keep it out of direct sunlight. The clothes etc will act as insulation.

Keep the bag out of direct sunlight and you should be fine, I even venture that as long as it's not burning hot like a sauna, everything should be fine. I've taken the same film loaded through and to a few countries without issue.

I'm from Italy and when possible try not to keep films under direct sunlight. Never, ever had an issue. Ektar 100 is my main choice for color and very often use TRI-x. Last year i was in Israel (August) and it was terribly warm. Pictures (mainly ektar, 35 and 120 format) were more than ok. Enjoy your trip. Exactly where are you going ?

I drove from Adelaide to Melbourne and back over two weeks last February during a heatwave.
Man, that was hot. Some days over 44C.
Film was fine. I was a puddle.

To the one question where exactly I will be going: We are not quite sure yet about the exact destinations but Italy will definitely be in and I think to be more specific, Venice!

APUG is a great forum.
Italy has so many nice places - from Sicily, over Rome and Florence to Milan, Venice...all is great and very photogenic.
I have been in Venice only 3 times , beautiful city. Tip: public toilets in Venice are super expensive (2 euros and more) - when you need to go - just go in random coffee bar, order espresso, but don't sit on the table (extra charge), stand on the bar. It will cost you less than 1 euro. Look for hidden small streets for eating and drinking, away from main spots. Wide angle lens is also good to have - streets are narrow.

I bought 2 coffee's and two orange juice's in a cafe in Rome, when I got the bill I nearly fainted, I thought he was making me an offer for my sweet little CONTAX compact.

Same in all big cities I guess...London included.
