Hello and Good Morning to you all, first of all thank you for letting me join your what seems to be very informative Forum.

To test the water, as a new comer to black and white developing I have just taken receipt of a Durst M670 b&w developer
and would like clarification as to whether it needs a transformer or is that just for colour processing
thanks

Kevin.

If the unit is an European unit then it would work without a transformer. It doesn't need the 220 to 12V transformer like the color version. If the unit is a North America model then you do need a 220 to 120V step down transformer.

Check the specifications on the bulb and compare to your local outlet voltage.
The color heads generally use low voltage halogen bulbs and require a suitable power supply. A head with a hight voltage opal bulb may plug into your timer directly if the bulb voltage and local grid voltage match.
