I finally got to take out my first (excluding the holga...) medium format camera from class! It was a hasselblad 500 c/m and let me just say WOW. I know it was a loaner but damn, we just go well together! I have a very very very bad feeling that my checking account is going to be sans the price of a new camera by the time this class is over... Once I got used to the backwards feeling, it felt so good to compose the shot and the negatives! They were gorgeous! Getting an extremely bad case of GAS!!!

I know what the OP means.

I bought my 500C/M in 2005 and had it overhauled and repaired by Hassy USA that summer. Worked reliably since.

Sadly, though, I had to sell it in December to pay an overdue bill. I listed it on Craigslist, and a couple bought it for their daughter's 21st birthday, a gift that was totally unexpected.

See, their daughter was studying photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York, and she'd rented the school's Hasselblad from time to time.

Her mother wrapped the camera in an old box that once held a pair of boots (talk about a red herring!), and was quite blown away by the gift. She was also delighted to be able to use it right away because I'd included seven rolls of Ilford HP5+ in the deal.

The OP went from a Holga to a Hassy. Isn't like going from a mule to a Ferrari? The price of the hesselblads are very reasonable. It is the cost of the glass that keeps them out of my hands.

I would gladly buy the lenses I have for my Blad at current prices and go on a long and nice vacation with it for the difference to the price I really paid for them back then.

They are worth the money but still well out of my budget.

Looking through KEH's offerings I see your point. In Europe C-lenses have come down in price considerably more than in the US.

Yep in the states it costs more to get a good piece of glass.
