Obviously from the "How Many Cameras Do You Own" thread it's quite certain that we are an acquisitive bunch of folk.

So, look at your "inventory". And consider that you have just been told that your dear beloved Great Aunt Sally is in critical condition and needs a left foot little toe transplant operation in order to continue her fan dancing career.

Which one would you first sell on one of those auction sites?

Oh, sorry, no FSU's, that market is already flooded!

I do have a Nikon Nikkormat FT-3 that I guess I could be forced to sell to help out Aunt Sally.

What about you?

Individually the words in the thread title are known to me. But strung together like that, they are totally incomprehensible to me.

Ummmm ... I have a Kodak Bantam ... does that count ... ?

CGross

If I had to, it would most likely be the Yashica TL in one of my drawers.
Aunt Sally would have to need more then a toe for the rest to go!!!!

I've been thinning lately--sold off a Canon EF, so now I just have one 35mm body--my New F-1. I also sold one of my two Bronica S2a bodies, which I was keeping as a backup, but I decided that I have other cameras that can serve as backups, if I really need them.

Maybe I'd sell my Voigtlander Superb TLR, which is the only camera I have just because it's a neat camera. I don't use it that often.

My second alternate backup Mamiya 645 Super body could be pried from my hands.

I would cry, but I could part with my Olympus OM1, as the OM1n seems to be handling its responsibilities well, and the other 4 OM series bodies are available to take up any slack.

I may decide to part with one of my two new (to me) Koni Omega bodies, as soon as I figure out which one I like best...

Naw, it's easier to keep them all!

Hmmmm, let me see...

for a little toe:
Honeywell Pentax H1a, Spotmatic SP, SP-2

if it were something a little more serious, I might let go of one of those B&J Commercial View cameras I've got stashed under the porch.

I've sold off almost everything I have - hard to believe, I know - and now I have only what I use beside the stuff that isn't even usable. Nikon FE, Agfa Billy, Argus C3, and a few old point and shoots that get use when I want a certain look. That said, I'm not selling ANYTHING else.

Thats a tuff one.
With four 35mm bodies from the house of Nikon it will probably be one of those I would sell of if necessary. But which I don't know. Im kind of hanging on to them because of nostalgia. The F90X is the one that see the most action, then the FE2 and the newly given to me FM. The Nikormat FT3 mostly sits in the cabinet collecting dust. I was tampted to give up my P6X7 for a short while cause Im looking for a 5X7" camera but I came to my senses fortunately

Generally, if I sell something, I find I need it for an article six months later and have to borrow one (or buy another one). Most of my cameras are worth so little that it's not worth the effort of flogging them -- things like the Praktisix, assorted folders, etc. -- and the ones I use are mostly the ones that are worth anything. I suppose the Graflex XL is worth enough to make it worth selling. Eventually, too, I think the Gandolfi 12x15 inch will go: ULF is just so much hassle, and a 2,5x enlargement off 5x7 inch is a little bigger, still grain-free and sharp, and a nicer shape.

Cheers,

R.

Hmm.

Couldn't I just take out a loan or go busking or sell a couple of kidneys instead?

Steve.

Some months back, I sold my entire Nikon 35mm system, F100 and optics like 20,24,35,85,105 and 180mm.
Why? `Cause it was gathering dust on the shelf, I can`t keep a piece of equipment I don`t use!

Cheers

I've got a number I'm going to unload shortly - cluttering up the house and not getting used. The Calumet C-1 (Green, Magnesium) 8x10 with just about every accessory they made for it (both reducing backs, the compendium lens shade, a handful of lensboards, and even a recessed lens board), an Agfa/Ansco 4x5/5x7 (I only have the 4x5 back for it), a pair of Contax 167 MT bodies, the 35-70 and 80-200 zoom lenses for them.

That's a thorny one!
I guess it would have to be one of my two EOS 500 bodies, with a Sigma 28-105.
I'd hate to do it though - I occasionally use the two cameras bolted together for stereo photography.
Everything else gets used too often to lose voluntarily.

If she was my aunt Sally, and considering the price of private medical treatment, if I sold all my photographic equipment ( all of it at least twenty years old ) she would just have to "soldier on" because it wouldn't be enough to pay for it.

I'm happy that I live in a socialist country with a reasonably good public health care system. I'll keep my cameras, thank you. I might even consider getting another one...

i have thought about selling some or all of the Minoltas at one time or the other, but realize i would not get adequate value for them. $30-$50 for a fully functional camera with optional lenses. if i sell the cameras then i have to part with the lenses. the 85mm f/1.7 is too precious to let go...then i would have to decide which body i wanted to keep to shoot that lens and the kiron 28 f/2 with and the 50mm f/1.4 and f/1.7...just easier to keep them all and keep a variety of film inside of them. i actually with the near silent XDs that i have right now. this has turned into a wandering blithering mess so far and i hope you can understand my frustration and confusion about these lovely old cameras. if i keep them lubed and in use, i can shoot with them until all the spare parts are gone forever.

Selling--that's an advanced topic.

Well, I have a pre--ani baby speed graphic. Graflok back, rollfilm holder, Heiland flash, box of bulbs...that would probably be first. I have seriously been considering that for a few months now.

Close would be my Bronica. I have always wanted a MF SLR.when I got rid of my Commie-Cam (Salyut C) I started hankering for a replacement about a year later...I bet it would happen again!

I've already sold off the cameras I'm willing to sell off. I did get seller's remorse from my Canon A-1 so guess what, I have another one now.

Yes, right on! Thanks to the National Health Service that's the sort of horrible choice we would never have to make over here. Though it has to be said that Bush's Poodle (aka Tony Blair) is doing his best to screw it up. And to think I actually voted for him once....

One of my 824 Agfa Optima Sensors would have to go then.
