There will be fun and if there is enough room in my suitcase for clothes there will be warmth also, thanks Brian. I couldn't fit all of my gear in one suitcase so I'll have to put the film holders in a Dosocil case and check it in. I wouldn't have to take two camera systems but I want to make some 5x7 images for future Carbon Transfer and since the lenses will also fit the 4x5 and I have that new 100 sheet box of FP4+ 4x5 film I'll be taking it too. I have a bad habit of taking too much when flying, so much to take, so little space.

Looks like Jim pulled some strings with the little green men to get us good weather. The forecast now is mostly sunny through the weekend becoming partly cloudy mid week with highs in the mid to high 50's. Lows are still in the high 20's but should warm up quickly. A couple of quick blasts with the ray gun set on heat should take care of it. Of course, with that many photographers together, hot air really shouldn't be a problem!

I couldn't lift my suitcase and had to put all of the film holders in a separate case soooo I'm leaving the 5x7 at home and taking the 4x5 :rolleyes:. I finally realized that I need a 5x7 with a 5x7 back and a 4x5 reducing back. A field camera and not a 2D tree camera, maybe an Ebony, think lottery, would fit the bill . I wonder what the airlines would think if I showed up with a forklift?

I have 20 film holders with film inside, will that be corrupted with the x-ray machine at the airport? ISO 100. I didn't pack anything yet, I don't even know how to start, yesterday I got a sekonic NP finder 1degree adapter for my sekonic L-358 and just realized I don't know how to use it! it gives me errors most of the time, it doesn't seem to like dark areas...

Do I need boots!

Careful there Mike, that was a very left coast statement;-) You are going to be in the real west soon! Besides, we all know how that smog in L A is generated.... Jaime, your film will be fine through the carry on xray - unless they pull the slides. Don't let your film bag get too far ahead of you. And, Curt, that's why I'm bringing the truck!

It reminds me when I was a kid and having lived in Washington state for all my life, up until 10 years old, I thought I lived in the real West, then we moved to Wyoming and found out what the real West was, my dad was in charge of an airport, he was a pilot and an A&P mechanic, and we lived in an area surrounded by farms and ranches where "cowboy and cowgirl" clothes were worn (Western Wear), not for show but for real. I had the button down shirts, boots, unbleached jeans, a tooled belt and a silver buckle with a gun on it, my sister had a horse on hers. It was like like the movie "No country for old men" style. Everyone was very friendly and nice though, a new experience for us. When my dad was killed in a plane crash I was 12 and we moved back to the home state but I will never forget how nice everyone was there in Wyoming.

Do NOT ship those film holders in your packed bags. Only in your carry on.

Well it's 11:27 pm and I'm packed, except for some clothes. I head to the airport tomorrow morning and will on the road in the late afternoon to Tonopah, the weather looks good in the day time and at night it's overcoat time. See everyone at the Best Western Hotel on Monday at 9 am.

Day two and it's a tiny bit cold but not raining. This is the best time i've had in years and with a great group of people. Per and Jim have been the most outstanding hosts anyone could ask for. More later this is from my phone.

I got home last night and am developing this morning. I enjoyed Jim's hospitality and Per's Zen teaching. It was a pleasure to meet everyone and I enjoyed the many informative discussions that took place. Jim's lens collection was impressive and we only saw a fraction of the total. We were hoping he would give away a lens to every participant...no such luck.

Curt, I headed south early Friday morning and what a beautiful sky there was,did you have the same?

On Friday I drove from Tonopah to Las Vegas via Rhyolite and the light was wonderful. The drive provided some great subject matter. I was shooting Kodachrome and had to force myself to quit shooting so I would not miss my flight.

I'm at home now and Mike the weather was great, I left Tonopah and headed South to Beatty and took a last look at Rhyolite then headed to Death Valley and ended up at Scotty's Castle where I was in time for the 1:40 tour which I suggest for anyone who is in the area. I left there and headed South and viewed the Ranger Station and museum. It was getting later by that time but I was at Zabriskie Point just before sunset. It was hard to depart that beautiful view but I headed out again and had to stop for an accident. As I approached the trooper flagged me on and when passing the semi, RV, cars and truck I saw a tent set up in the middle of the road. They were filming a movie of all things. Cross-eyed I passed Shoshone and Pahrump and finally arrived in sin city. Death Valley is a long drive especially alone and in the dark. By the time I hit the rack I was totally wiped out. On the plane I was seated next to a really nice older couple and we three fell asleep as the coffee passed us by. When we awoke the flight attendant came with coffee for us and a big smile. I'll be thinking of all of you and the great time I had in the "real west". It's a time warp and like Jim says, "the crazier the World get the better he likes it there". I hope everyone is or will arrive home safely.
