Toning Kallitype Prints

When toning Kallitype prints can this be done under regular room illumination or should it be accomplished under safe lights?

I am using rapid selenium as my toner material thus the print toning is done after fixing

You can tone under normal room illumination.

Tone under room lights... otherwise difficult to see tone change. Selenium toning is my favourite way to tone Kallitypes.

Do you overexpose the print when toning with selenium? I tried it a couple of weeks ago (after fixing) and it bleached the print quite a bit.

Yes andreios, gold is lovely, but too pricey.
Adelorenzo, I used to overexpose the print, but recently it hasn't been necessary. I use a very dilute solution, 1:400. My paper is also acidified with sulfamic acid... but not sure if this helps prevent bleaching.

My normal selenium toning solution (for fiber paper) is much stronger, so that may explain it. I'll try something more diluted next time and see if the bleaching effect is reduced.
