I just wanted to post here that Tom Hoskinson passed away on 10/9/13 after three weeks in hospice. Tom was an amazing person who was willing to answer all my chemistry questions. very generous to ALL APUG'ers...he was a great guy and I had gone and seen him in the nursing home several years ago...
we will miss you Tom!!
Best, Peter

What a shame. I worked with Tom and always enjoyed the time we spent in the company cafeteria. He was a fine man and a real character. He has been missed ever since he was stricken with illness, and will be missed even more now. Thanks for the news.

Thank you Peter for letting us know, he was a great guy very open and helpful. He was about to start working on a project with me 5 years ago when he suddenly stopped posting.

We often don't realise t why people stop posting here and it's not the first time we don't discover the reason until much later.

Ian

thanks peter for posting this.
what sad news.

tom and i exchanged emails / p-m's years ago, and eventually we lost touch
and i always wondered what had happened to him.
he was so nice and willing to help even the most novice person ( like me ) with chemistry-stuff
without a second thought.

he is ( and has been ) sorely missed.

john

How sad - condolences to his friends and family.

I remember his posts well. For those who are unfamiliar, here is his APUG profile: (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

It is interesting to note that he remained as a subscriber.

Perhaps this should be moved to the "In Memoriam" forum.

Very sad to hear this news, thanks for letting us know.

Always a helpful and considerate voice on the forum. He is and will be missed.

glad to realize I was not alone on this...thanks to all of you for a moment of remembrance...Tom is in the big lens in the sky now!!
have a great day
Peter
