Which part in particular are you referring to? Or are you suggesting it be chef's choice?

I don't have the heart to tell you this, but it has always been chef's choice... that is nothing new.

The reason Donner Pass is called that is because the survivors passed the others.

Ahhh, Colorado. Ski in the morning, golf in the afternoon, a little cycling after dinner.

We started the day below 0 F, but it's really warmed up (22F and the sun's been down for over two hours). We should have a white Christmas, though, 'cause the snow we got Saturday night hasn't had a chance to melt. Now I just need to get an excited almost 4-year-old into bed so we can put everything out (and finish wrapping).

In the article about SoCal, photo they used is Australia (North Bondi Beach). Never heard of such a place in CA! Got to be careful about pulling images off the 'net!

Rats!
I brag about the perfect weather here, expecting to stir up a little envy, and the only response is from the person in Iowa who wears shorts and a tank top any time it's above freezing!

No that was a photograph of Los Angeles from the Channel 4 news room, not a gwc photograph from internet. But then what do northern Californians know. :whistling:

The Bondi photo must have been a place-holder until they got the video uploaded -- still funny!

Started the morning with thick fog, but the sun quickly burnt thru and it is up to 40F already -- on its way to the upper 50's.

I'm not quite that bad… But I am still a New Englander at heart and there's somewhat of an attitude up there about not admitting when it's cold. And I like the change of seasons. Once any of them last very long, I'm ready for the next.

And we have a white Christmas, sun, and 31F today. Dinner is in the oven with minimal cooking left to do, the wrapping paper is all cleaned up, and daddy is busy putting all the stuff together. I've already been hit in the head with a rocket and buzzed by a P-51. And it's not quite noon.

Merry Christmas all!!!

Hmm... I have spent my entire life in North East Ohio, but I get the thing about not admitting when it's cold. I don't consider it cold unless the car tires are frozen into shape and thump as you drive. It's not cold if Lake Erie doesn't freeze enough to drive on (though I don't drive on it myself). Neither happen often anymore. Our local newscasts like records, with the usual sensationalism. We may set a record temp for a given day, and everyone watching does not realize that record is for that calendar date, not for the season as an whole.

I like the seasons too - I think my favorite is fall because I associate it with going back to college from my undergrad days. I love snow, though don't want it in July. Snowfall has been a bit disappointing this year - now if I lived in LA, I'd be just a short drive away from snow

It's 27^ and overcast; we did get a dusting of snow yesterday, so we have a white Christmas, kinda-sorta. Typical for the Cleveland area.

Merry Christmas everyone.

That would mean that you are dead.

LOL. Well, I'm probably not leaving the state except for vacations, so it stands.
However, considering that my entire life does not include that which has not yet happened, I believe my use of the verb should be correct, at least colloquially. Besides, I'm from the region that feels compelled to end sentences with a preposition

Linguistically, I am not so sure of that. Philosophically I believe the opposite; Everyone has lived their entire lives...thus we are all of the same age. The young child or old person does not see her/himself as having only lived part of their life, but have lived it to the full up to Now. All deserve to be respected, and not disregarded because they are either too young and not complete, or too old and pass their time. Just my way of seeing it. YMMD.

we here in the great white north(Toronto) just went through a nasty winter storm that had everything: sleet, snow, wind and freezing rain which was the big blow. It knocked out power for most of the southern half of the province. I lost power on Sunday afternoon and got it back 24 hours later. There are still a lot of people without power and are spending their third or fourth night with no heat. Work crews are going all out to fix everything but the main culprit are the tree branches overhanging power lines. With all the ice on them it doesn't take much to go snap!! and the crews are back to square one.

It is still snowing and the temp is expected to go down to about -8 to - 10 degrees C (or between 14 to 8 degrees F plus a wind chill of -5 degrees F. And more of the same right into the weekend. But I guess I'm used to it all having lived here in T.O. all my life. Anyway Merry Christmas and have a safe and happy new year.

Doug:smile:
