I love replenished XTOL. I replenish 70mls per roll. I remove the same amount from the replenished batch before replenishing. I use 3 liter container for my replenished developer and a 2 liter wine bladder for the replenisher batch. I sometimes replenish more than 70mls per roll and my developer still gets tired. Does bromide buildup the problem? Both replenisher and developer bottles are full with no air in it. I'm mixing a new bath and I'm putting some of the seasoned developer into the new batch. Is that the right thing to do?

Thanks Michael. I'm just not doing it right. I'm taking a look at the publication.

Best,
Don

I replenish Xtol at the rate of 90ml per roll instead of the recommended 70ml. My Xtol batch is now 7 years old and is working absolutely consistently. Developing times settled years ago to 30% more than Kodak's numbers. The only maintenance the batch gets apart from replenishment is occasional filtration.

Thanks for the tip!

I tossed my tired batch and started fresh. I'm replenishing 90ml per roll. I'm thinking I can't over replenished since I'm replenishing with the developer. You're one smart chap!

Sounds good, but you'll have to re-season your batch since you threw out all of the old. I would only do that if mine was way out of whack, but maybe yours was; the title implies it, but I didn't see it in the thread.

It's all down the drain. Yes I'll have to season it. But I don't mind. But this is the second batch that had the same problem. I think I'm under replenishing my XTOL.

How much do you replenish?

I have not had that with replenished XTOL.

I replenished 70mls per roll and my negs got thinner with the same recommended time after 40 rolls.

Yes I have had to add one minute to the 68 degree development time for 4"x5" HP5+ for rotary processing.
