Tips for an old Verichrome pan 116 'found' film

Hi all,
I just picked up an old folder with an exposed roll of film in it - 116 format Kodak Verichrome Pan. It had been exposed up to roll 7, so is worth a look to see if anything will develop. My tanks will only take up to 120 format, so was going to have a go at see-sawing it through a dish of developer, never done this before. Also I have access to ID-11, Microphen and Rodinal. Any suggested tips and tricks, developers and times?

I've got a few older Kodak Darkroom Dataguides with times for D-76 and Verichrome Pan. As ID-11 and D-76 are pretty well identical, I'll look those times up later today and post.

Well found. Certainly looks like a cheap and reliable method even if you have to buy a twin reel Paterson tank and if you are already a user of these tanks then its free!

From the 1970 edition of Kodak's Darkroom Dataguide - all times for 68F/20C:
Verichrome Pan in D-76 1+1: 9 minutes
Verichrome Pan in D-76 stock: 7 minutes
If you have a Kodak Darkroom Guide, the respective "Development Numbers" are 39 and 36.

You may want to use some anti fog with old film.

I have successfully developed Verichrome Pan in HC-110 B for 10 minutes. I have also developed older films in Ilfosol 3. A rough guide that has worked for me is to develop for twice as long as is needed for HP5 in your preferred developer.

I have a Photax trough. I see sawed a old roll of Verichrome not to long back. Didn't get much. Some blurred images of a house last 5 frames were blank. Boy I wish someone would come up with a way produce postcard 122 film. I have a Nikor reel for 122 just in case Elon Musk buys Kodak and introduces a New Kodak 3A.

if you have DEKTOL use that
it will be better for your old
potentially fogged film >>> 1"6 6mins
or even shorter 1"5 5min .. use it around 68ºF .
you don't want to give your film the chance to get
too comfortable with long processing times .

That's great thanks. I'll mix up a fresh batch of ID-11 and use stock at 7 mins at 20 C and see what happens. hard to know how long it's been in there. Research suggests that Verichrome pan was around from about 1954 and 116 was discontinued in about 1984, but this is a folder from the late 1920's so I can't see someone using it into the 80's. My guess is perhaps it's been in there since the 1960s.
