Are there any enlarger timers out there which count up as well as down? That is, can you set it to start at zero seconds and count up to a specified time?

What's the difference? Timers turn on the enlarger for a specified number of seconds, and then turn it off. They're not really counting "up" or "down", they're just throwing a switch after x-amount of time.

Perhaps I should have added that I would like a digital display on the timer. For reasons which are unimportant, I want to be able to use an ascending as well as a descending count.

Yes. I have one in the darkroom that I use for process timing.

It's a multi-step microprocessor-based digital device that's fully programmable.

I don't recall offhand the make/model. I'll look at it tomorrow.

I use a GraLab digital 2-channel timer that is no longer available (so no help there), and it can be set to count up or count down. The digital display can be dimmed for any of three brightness levels. I find the up/down feature useful also. However, if I could afford an RH Designs Stop Clock that would be my preference.

As you seemingly do not need a switching timer, such tiny timer should be fine

triple timer, counting either up or down

The RH Process Master is great. It replaced all my various clocks I used for different purposes. It allows to count up. However there are limitations and it might not be what you're looking for. It does only count up the amount of time you programmed it to countdown first, then it stops counting. And there's no way to count up only. Furthermore all times above 10 minutes are displayed in 10 second intervals (display changes every 10 seconds only) which is very weird if you're used to how most digital clocks work: display shows every second. The wrong place to save a couple of cents for a digit element IMHO. Other than that, it's a good process timer.

Another option would be a stop clock they sell for gyms and sports. they usually come with a remote, are programmable, nice big red LED digits and they display seconds. Just google for "led wall sports clock" or something like that.
