I'm in a good mood tonight. Makes me think of the soon to be displayed Christmas spirit. Is there some place in Cal that would be central enoogh to hold a state wide apug Christmas party? We could even do a print swap for Christmas. I-5 is the main freeway from one end to the next. What does everyone think?

Can I come, can I, can I....

I really wish that I could, I have a son in school in Weed, CA and it would be great to see him and get together with fellow apugers..

Dave Parker
Ground Glass Specialties.

NO Dave you can't come. You have to go the the Montana Christmas Party. If you aren't a card carrying Californian APUGer you simply aren't eligible. SORRY.

Also what ever possessed you to send your son to a place called Weed. Isn't there enough distractions for students these days without going to a place called Weed.

At least they are not trying to hide it. Is this a horticultural school?

Mark,

No actually it is a firefighters school, he is trying to become a firefighter in LA County and getting part of his schooling up there.

Well why didn't you say so. That puts a whole new light on things.

Oh course you can come to our Christmas Party.

Also you probably know what we all want for Christmas, so bring a lot with you.

Of course "central" in California means a lot of things. You could end up near the San Andreas Fault in the Central Valley at which point no tripod will keep your camera steady!

I hear the wine up that way is pretty good. Perhaps I could bring a couple of bottles from down here also (just to compare of course - our Pinot Noir isn't bad) to relieve the responsibility of bringing prints.
Assuming Way out of towners are also invited!

Hey, I'll bring my favorite local Cabernet.

If we do a central one, we should look at motel or other facilities in the area, so those who drink don't have to drive all the way home later.

Who all would come, and how afr is everyone from the Monterey area? I bet we could get Kim Weston to show us around Wildcat Hill.

Party? I love parties! I think a party and print swap sounds like a GREAT IDEA. I'm in the Central Valley so of course, I think "Central" would be great.

Brilliant idea, Shmoo. Parkfield would be the perfect place!

Monterey is a great place for shooting if we wanted to make the gathering into a photo trek. But, it's probably not as convenient to get to as some other "central" venues, and its more expensive than many places, as well.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to get a sense of preferences between:

1. a photo day trip with a party in the evening, or

2. just a party in the evening.

If its a photo day trip, then the questions of where, what time for gathering, and all that sort of thing come into play.

This was arrangeable back in Oct. But now many have plans and a full slate of events. What about a post holidays gathering when there is no pressures? I-5 is the main artery through the state. There is a very picturesque wild life refuge in the central valley. What about meeting near that. We could find a nice motel with a large room to meet in, and those who do not wish to drive both ways in one day, can stay. We would also have the WR as a venue to go shoot in. It is the same place Roman Loranc shoots a lot of his in.

Aggie - I agree that a post-holiday CA get-together is probably more realistic at this point.

Which wildlife refuge are you thinking about?

Aggie,

I LOVE the idea of it being in the central valley near the stomping grounds of Roman Loranc. Roman's work is beautiful to say the least. Aggie, are you in the central valley? I'm in Modesto.

I'm in the east bay near where the Sacramento River joins the back bay. I can get to Modesto in less than an hour the way I drive.

I also got another suggestion today. San Lorenzo Park in King City. It looks really interesting.

I thought you might kick and scream over that suggestion, Becky.

Strangely, having been hatched and fetched-up in the central valley, I've never ventured into the area around Kesterson. It does look interesting, though. What's the access like?

I'm over here kick'n and scream'n......

I've never been there either. I don't get out of my own pasture much.
