Time for Rodinal 1+50/ Neopan 400 @800

I am continuing my journey/test to learn how films respond pushing/pulling etc.

I just shot a rll of Neopan 400 @ ISO 800 and want to develop it in either Rodinal 1+50 or HC110, 1+50 (E almost)

I have times from the Massive dev chart for 1+25.

I would develop it for about 9-10 minutes at 20C in Rodinal 1+50.

For Rodinal 1+50 you need 20mins. Insert 30sec in the beginning and then slowly every 3 minutes.

When you get marks from inconsistent replenishment, you will know it is from slow careful agitation.

This is how I did it. I saw some shots on Flicker where the person had used this process and his shots were outstanding. The film is drying now so I will try to scan it later today.

What kind of shadow detail did you get?
I always thought Rodinal was a poor choice for pushing but considering this film is very close to box speed in D76 it may be do able.
I have a stash of Neo400 120 that I copped right before it disappeared and a large stash of legacy pro 400 so I'm interested.

What format are you shooting and how is the grain? Normally processed Neo400 is pretty nice grain wise as I'm sure you already know.

Bruce, pushing a 400 film one stop with Rodinal is definitely not what I would tell my friends to do. What you get is mostly grainy and contrasty, unpleasant negs. But I knew Stradibarrius is no newbie.

IMHO Rodinal has been excellent for pushing for me, I've pushed far more than 1 stop in Rodinal, with pleasent contrast and fine grain. Technique makes all the difference in Rodinal. And correct exposure for the EI.
