Process: Pt/PD ( I used pd with only 1-3 drops of Pt since it is so expensive. and for contrast I use Na2.) (I use Post. Oxilate at room temp. (72-75 F)) and clear with either EDTA/sod. sulfite or kodak clearing bath and Sod. Sulfite.)
Paper: use cot-320, archers platine,
Pre-Process Treatment: I have started to treat all papers with 1% Ox. acid bath for one minute. and even using tween20 in the mix. This seems to have minimize the speckling i'm getting it the blacks.
Post-Process: screen dry and mount dry mount on 100% cotton rag board.
Subjective: Many papers seem to have qualities that changes from batch to batch. I feel giving a pre-bath to make sure the paper is proper for printing.
My favorite paper was the platinotype which i have no idea why it was discontinued, knowing so many others that are only half as good.

Michael, I know from some years ago going round and round with it on the B&S site and Dick varified that the Crane's platinotype was actually Crane's cover just renamed. At that time I bought a ream of full sheets from a local paper supply house and it was the same paper that I had been getting from B&S. I haven't kept up with changes at Crane & Co as I inherited over 800 sheets of platinotype, but I just checked Cranes web site and they still offer natural white Cranes 90lb cover in full sheets or 8.5X11. Have you given it a try and is there any reason to think it is different now than it was just a few years ago? Here is where I found it:

dennis-the word is out that the newer paper does not work well.
it is very easy to order direct from the company. I also have the older paper in hand but will need to start looking again fairly soon. all I can say is that if you find a paper you like buy it up
Best, Peter
