Dang, I don’t know how I missed this! Would 100% have wanted to participate. Gotta check back here more often so I don’t miss the next one.

So far, there's no demand for a new exchange. But if others want another, I am happy to organize it.

I am up for another exchange. However, I suggest that we wait until the new year. Me thinks that for many of us, the month of December is busy enough without adding a print exchange.

We should probably wait for the last one to finish.

We had a couple of people who didn’t mail out their prints but at this point I assume the last exchange is closed. I have no plans to organize another exchange at this point.

I don't necessarily mind doing another "everyone gives to everyone" type exchange if the group doesn't exceed about 8-10 people. But from the exchange we all did at the beginning of 2023, I got the impression that there were a few people out there who opted out because they didn't have time to produce 8 different alt process prints to send out.

If someone (Rolleiflexible, myself, someone else) were to set up another alt process exchange in early 2024, what would everyone's preferences be as far as the format of the exchange?

- Everyone gives to everyone
- Everyone gives to and receives from 1-2 people
- Everyone gives to and receives from whatever number of people they choose to sign up for (kinda like the postcard exchange)
- Something else?

Gonna bump this. I got my darkroom overhauled and I'm like a kid in a candy shop in there lately. Would love an excuse to make some new alt process prints.

Anyone else game to do another exchange? I'm happy to organize.

I'm glad to participate.

Regarding your message of 28 Nov, I think that we should stick with the model we have used previously... your third choice, therein.

Hopefully our current deep freeze will be over at some point. The humidity in my dim room stands at about 25% currently. Too low to make alt process prints!

You must have much tighter controls on your processes than I do. I couldn't tell you the humidity of my darkroom, but given my locale I'd guess I've never hit 25% in there :D

No control over the humidity at all 😋, I just refrain from printing when the humidity drops below about 40%.

25% (down to 20% now, I keep a cheap digital thermometer/hydrometer in my dimroom, it helps with troubleshooting) is atypically low for me even in winter; 40% is more typical.

We heat solely with wood and with our usual January cold spell here in NH (highs 10-15 F and lows around 5 for the past several days) we have been burning a lot of wood in our basement stove. Thus, the humidity in the basement, where my dimroom is located, is extremely low despite the pot of water I keep atop the stove. The humidity on the main level of the house is running about 30%

We're suppose to have another 24 hours of this weather and then more moderate temperatures starting Monday. Hopefully, the humidity will be back to normal by mid-week and I'll be printing again well in time for the next print exchange! Now I'll need to choose an image!

I organized an Alt Print Exchange at the beginning of the year and it worked well. The rules were: There are no rules. Print when you can. Sooner is better. Smaller prints are encouraged. Hybrid prints are okay. Photograms are okay. Lith prints are okay. If the print is not coming out of an inkjet, it probably qualifies as "Alt."

Last time we had nine participants. Everybody printed for everybody else -- send out eight prints, get back eight prints. (Well, almost everybody: We had one person who never reciprocated. But this is an honor system and that's okay. Life happens.)

I've been asked to poll the members to see if there is any interest in another exchange. If you all want to print, I am happy to organize the exchange. Leave a note here or DM me with your interest.

I would love to be a part of this.

Okay, I think we have the makings of an exchange here. I have been chatting with a couple of great photogravure printers, Clay Harmon and Ray Bidegain, and both are in for this round. I will be sharing photogravures as well, so if that isn’t your cup of tea, you might want to sit out this exchange.

As before, this is the No Rules Exchange. Keep prints under 8x10-inches. Smaller is better. Sooner is better.

Tentative initial list:

1. Me
2. Clay Harmon
3. Ray Bidegain
4. @fgorga
5. @BHuij
6. @Patrick Robert James
7. @Dwayne Martin

If we get more than 10, I will have to figure out how best to juggle. Dave @KYsailor do you want to join?

Updated list:

1. Me
2. Clay Harmon
3. Ray Bidegain
4. Kerik Kouklis
5. Christopher Perez (My_Photolife)
6. @fgorga
7. @BHuij
8. @Patrick Robert James
9. @Dwayne Martin

This is a pretty full group. At least four of us are exchanging gravures. If there are any last requests to join (I'm looking at you, @KYsailor ) speak up now -- this ship is about to sail.

What the heck....with the the roster like this - count me in. I have some issues currently that I am struggling with, but perhaps this will give me an incentive to rise above them and make an effort to do some printing..

Okay! We are full up now. Here's the final tally:

1. Me and Melanie King*
2. Clay Harmon
3. Ray Bidegain
4. Kerik Kouklis
5. Christopher Perez (My_Photolife)
6. @fgorga
7. @BHuij
8. @Patrick Robert James
9. @Dwayne Martin
10. @nmp
11. @Peter Schrager

*My wife Melanie King prints gravures and wants to print for the group. Melanie does not expect anyone to print separately for her -- one print to us both will do. So each participant will mail out ten prints, and receive eleven in return.

Photrio members on the list should confirm their participation by DM to me @Rolleiflexible with the mailing address you prefer to use for the exchange.

As before, there are no rules. Smaller is better. Sooner is better. If life gets in the way, we forgive you.

Once I've collected addresses, I'll circulate a proper list by DM. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak up by DM.

Also, since we have four participants who aren't on Photrio, I will put together a group text for those who want to communicate by text. DM me your mobile number if you want to be included.
