Thumbnail in TIFF (Nikon 9000ED)

Hi,

I purchased a Nikon LS9000 ED last week and I start scanning my film using this scanner. However, I find that every TIFF file it scanned, it comes with a thumbnail attaching the file.

Is there any way that I can delete this thumbnail in TIFF and any way to set my scanner so it does not save the thumbnail into the hard disk?

What program are you using? Are you on a Mac? I know a lot of Mac graphics editors make the icon for the file a thumbnail of the image but there's usually a way to turn that feature off. Or do you mean something else?

You get a thumbnail as 'page 1' if you scan with 16 bit color depth. If you change the setting to 8 bit you won't get the thumbnail.

However, most programs give you the option to delete the 'page 1' or thumbnail.

Thank you for your help, my situation is exactly as what you described. However, I am using ACDSee Pro but I cannot find where to delete the page. Can you give me some further advices?

I'm using ACDSee Pro as well, but I've turned off the display of the thumbnail (it annoyed me) and don't the slightest idea how to bring it back.

I think you can delete the first image = thumbnail by selecting and deleting it. If not, you can delete it in any image editor like Corel Draw or Gimp - sorry, I don't know about Photoshop.

If you convert the image to jpg it will be gone.

If you don't need the 16bit (which some call 48bit) option, just scan @ 8bit tiff.

Maybe ACD can delete it with the batch converter -> from 48 bit to 16 bit? I've never tried it...
