And don't forget the beer.

But remember that like PhotoShop, we merely rent beer not own it. One can easily follow the flow of thought ...

In 25+ years of folk & bluegrass festivals... I've never seen that happen.

When I freelanced, in the 90s, for my local paper the Mesa Tribune, I covered a few rock concerts it was quite common to ban SLRs. I had a press pass, was allowed to cover the first 2 or 3 songs then I had to go. My wife was the music reviewer so she was allowed to stay for the entire concert. Being chased out worked for me as I could turn the film in so an image could run in the AM paper.

Rock concerts, (indoor concerts in general) are different than festivals. Many have on-site camping for example...you drive in & they check nothing... others only check for liquor being brought on site by people walking in.

I would say it depends on what you want from the photos. If it’s for the memories, i would just use a normal or a normal wide and take photos that embrace the essence of the event, not the individuals of the event. Other reasons would dictate other gear.

What's that suppose to mean?

It means.... photographing an event doesn't always mean photographing everything....the amount of film depends on your style, your decisions, what you want to capture.

As i see it, if i took a camera too an event like that, i would have sleeves of negatives that would never see the light of day again and would never get printed. I would enjoy taking the photos, but would be a total waste in the longrun.

Ever think about not using the machine gun mode for a change?

Ah the words of those who have never made professionally photography their primary income generator. When you're paid to get "the" shot the number of bin-able negs is irrelevant.

If you are a weekend warrior and worried about cost then yes save your powder. Just understand not everyone here on Photrio has the same concerns.

While I'm retired and left professional photography for another profession I did make my entire living for over a decade shooting for news and magazines.

So snide comments just make those making them seem pretty petty.

We need to show respect for everyone here.

If you ever shot for an art director, the editor on the photo desk for a publication, or for any other client who needed a selection of photographs to choose from, you will understand how correct Eric is.
Even wedding clients (back in the film days) wanted choice.

Eric Rose, I don't think the OP is a professional..... or he wouldn't be asking on an open forum. He's going to a 3 day festival. Apparently he's not in the employ of the directors of the board. It is a very common thing these days that people go to a musical event, concert or festival & spend most of their time experiencing it through their phone screen....So we're all guessing at his photographic goals.
What makes you consider my comments 'snide', because I offer a different point of view than yours? Do you think the OP will get better photographs with a high-speed motor drive & fifty rolls of film a day?
&
btw i have shot for publication and for art directors...

A N90s only has a battery grip that marginally increases it's native speed.

I'm not going to get into a pissing match with you. Have a great evening.

And one of the candidates may be... the Isolette (Ventura) I just fixed!

Very quick test down my road, today, and prompt development shows that, at first glance, focus is good, and no light leaks! I will look closely tomorrow before packing it (or not).
