I think Thornton two bath developer works great with Delta 100 in 35 mm format. I rate Delta @ 80 and the baths are at 74 F. Five and half minutes each bath with initial agitation of one minute followed by 15 seconds each minute thereafter. Results: exceedingly sharp negatives, fine grain, excellent tonality,
compensation. Supposedly temperature within reason is not critical. Easy too-
keep your litre bottle of baths and fixer in the same place and bring a pitcher of tap water to the temperatures of the baths for use of stop and rinse and you're in business. Inexpensive and one litre mixes are good for at least 15 films. Anyone with a similar experience?

Not with Delta 100, but I have been developing Acros, Tri-X, HP5 Plus and Neopan 400 in Thornton's developer with great results. The convenience alone makes it worthwhile for me.

method for films other than Delta 100 in Thornton 2 bath developing

I would be very grateful to know your methods for the films you mentioned regarding Thornton 2 bath development.

Nothing magic. For the 400-speed films I do 4'30" in each bath, agitating for the first 45 seconds and then two inversions per minute thereafter. Then stop and fix as usual. I did Acros for 3'45" I think.

Could anyone compare the grain and sharpness of Acros or Delta 100 in this developer to XTOL?

Sharpness and grain with thornton's 2 bath compared to xtol

My impression is that sharpness and grain with this developer is comparable or better than xtol ( 1:1 or1:3 ) and handsdown cheaper and more convenient. I would appreciate other opinions on this question.
