Sorry, but on my New Post listing, this was right above "Think she knows how to use it?" thread. Lol...

...god I hate youtube.

Interestingly... most guys would rather be longer than wider... but most gals prefer wider over longer... so this is a girly lens.

Was nice to finally see the legend, but even if I could rent that lens for say $25 for the day, I would pass, I don't see any value aesthetically of its images, to each his/her own I guess.

I am sure whomever buys it will make a good investment just bc of its rarity and its engineering accomplishment, but aesthiclly it doesn't do anything, a $0.50 point and shoot from the bin of a thrift store is more desirable....but I guess this lens is not really to be used like a normal lens...

Yeah, the only fascination of have with the thing is the sheer beauty of the glass. It's an amazing piece in that regard. What the end result is..well..kinda not my thing. It would be kinda cool to lay it on it's back in the Redwoods or something. Maybe.

Wonder whether you can correct the distortion in PS?

Oh yeah... must've been gazillions of these made. PS most certainly has a distortion profile for it.

I don't know how old you are but back in the golden days businesses like Nikon and Canon and others were always trying to out-do one another. Not just to win the long term customers that made their business but also out of sheer engineering moxy. This lens (and others, like the 13mm) was Nikon saying 'Go ahead, knock this off my shoulder. I dare you.' I imagine today the competition is as fierce as ever, if not more so, but I don't pay any attention if there's not a coupling shoe involved.

Amazing!
At that price, I would be afraid to use the lens for fear of damaging it.
And, if I read the YouTube narrative correctly, the lens did
sell for the 100,000 GBP asking price, ($161,000 USD).
What would be the insurance, even with say, $2k - 3k deductible?

Those show up on ebay from time to time for $35,000-$40,000. I'm amazed if they were able to get $161,000 for one!

I desperately want one, but have to wait until they come down to $1000 or less ;-)

It's an interesting lens, and a technical accomplishment, but anything wider than about 20mm on 35 just doesn't do much for me.

It would do a lot for me. Starting with a hernia.
