....so I'm seeing third party screens by the likes of Yanke and was wondering which is the brightest/best focusing screen for Hasselblad available.....I have 3 bodies and only one Acute Matte but ideally would buy another one....recommendations please? thankssssss

I used to own a Hasselblad 500/cm with a Beattie Intenscreen. It was much better than the original screen and I really liked it. I've read on this forum that the later Acute Matte screens are the best though.

I recommend using the Hasselblad screens, the acute matte D are the best (they are the most expensive for a reason).

I've used several aftermarket screens that were quite good (Brightscreen, Arax, no-name Asian) and some that were not (Bos, Beattie). The Brightscreen was the best of the bunch I tried, and worked well with most of my lenses, but when I got the 110mm f/2, I found that it back-focused all my images (and in retrospect, the other lenses were slightly back focused with that screen too, just less noticeable within the DoF). All the Hasselblad screens were bang on with the 110mm. So I just use the acute matte's now.

This is not to say that all aftermarket screens are out of spec, but the genuine Hasselblad screens are good and consistent.

I had a Brightscreen - got rid of it. The Acute Matte D and Maxwell screens are the best IMO.

I've never had an acute matte but I found that the "Big Microprism" screen 42250 has an extremely bright center spot, and is also very easy to focus on account of the microprism. And it sells for closer to $50 than $250.

Another vote for the Acute Matte D. They are excellent.

I bought an Acute mat D screen as a replacement. I first began using Beatie screens in my 35 cameras and never looked back.
