Think Tank Bazooka Tripod Case- A Telescoping Tripod Case

If anyone is looking for a Tripod case to protect their tripod out in the field, I just got my Think Tank Bazooka. It is a very nice heavily padded case that telescopes to accept tripods that are 15" to 30" long and that are up to 5" in diameter. This is the first and only tripod case that I know of that telescopes and looks to be my favorite tripod case for the field. So you can get an exact fit to your equipment. The case is very nicely finished and made of Ballistics Nylon, heavily padded (closed cell foam), can easily be strapped to a backpack. In addition, because the case telescopes, you can slide the upper portion down to access the tripod and remove if from the case. I stopped by the Think Tank Booth at Photo Plus and let them know that I had just received one and liked it very much. When I asked them if they were planning on a larger version of the Bazooka they said that they were.

As I indicated, the case is heavily padded and mine weighs 17.2 oz. The case just swallowed up my new Gitzo 1257LVL Carbon Fiber Tripod with the Markins M20 Head and Kirk 2 1/2" Arca Type QR.

Think Tank is relatively new making camera bags and the Bazooka Case. They have some interesting cases.

Here is the link to the Bazooka Tripod case:

For $59.00s that is a really good deal.

I thought that I might post a photo of the Bazooka. Many may find it a reasonably priced and practical piece of equipment. As I have indicated, I believe that this is a great bag to protect your tripod while out in the field. I think that this is very inexpensive protection for my over $1000 Gitzo 1257LVL Carbon Fiber tripod, Markins M20 Ball Head, and Kirk 2 1/2" Arca QR set-up.

OK, now you're just braggin'.

Hi David,

Not really. I was just trying to indicate that I was willing to put such an expensive tripod into the case. As to the tripod, Bogen Photo made payment of the tripod, Gitzo short column, and Gitzo case for 2 of my custom wood framed photos in UV glass that they have prominently on display in their corporate offices in Ramsey, NJ. That came about since they have used my photos at Photo Plus; these images are also on display in their corporate offices. We are on very good terms; but having Bogen/Gitzo use my work and having the photos on display in their corporate offices is advertising that I can not afford to buy.
