"I've read that at times" is "the most plausible"?

I'm glad you won't be on my jury.

Come to Germany, we abandoned juries 100 yeaes ago... because as jury member you yourself would not be a fair one, as you just are guessing why I find it plausible,.

Well, I tell you: I already indicated why I consider a mishap at production unlikely, you neglected that. More so as there had been final product quality controls.

And major manufacturers as Canon and Nikon over years designated their cameras differently per markets, whithout any tradename issues, but seemingly to keep supplies apart.

What speaks against this is the high price asked for such which makes one think rather of a mishap or a limited lot for other reasons, than a market-dependant lot. But as said I am ignorant on Minolta lenses, and I did not check on this, so that seller might just have done a price guess himself, assuming it a mishap.

But now it is up to you to spread your wisdom on lens production in general and this very case in particular...

Something else that I see is the letter spacing at "Rokor".

If it wasn't a mistake/mishap/screw-up/error, there would be others floating around.

There aren't.

I've read that at times Minolta sold Rokkor lenses and Rokor lenses intentionally, in different markets. Identical in every way except the engraving on that trim ring...

If anyone sees any evidence of this, I'd love to see it.

Minolta did produce some cameras with other names on them, for example Ansco and Revue but the lenses were marked ROKKOR.

And Minolta did make some cameras that had lenses that were not marked ROKKOR -- before 1937, when Minolta started to make some of its own lenses, they got most of their optics from Asahi -- and they dropped the ROKKOR name from all of their lenses shortly before merging with Konica.

But I've never seen a lens labeled ROKOR.

Never seen this neither. Minolta had the North-American only Celtic lenses (somehow lower quality or coating to otherwise identical Rokkor), and the camera names different by region (e.g. XD/XD7/XD11 or Maxxum/Dynax/Alpha etc)...

Well, by now I got curious and did some searches on the net... Ebay aside, I did not find one Rokor lens, only misspellings.

Are the reported Rokor lenses all of the 58mm version?

I only owned the Rokkor lenses with two 'k's. Now I feel left out. 😟
