The world's favourite film camera?

Your asking this 15-20 years too late! Every decade had it's favorites, what is your time span? If your asking about now, and if you surveyed people on the street you'd be lucky to find someone who could name a film camera. People are using phones and DSLR's. People under 30 probably have heard of Nikon or Canon, older folks will remember Leica, Pentax, Minolta, Yashica and so on. I would of said Hasselblad, at least they were introduced in the late 1940's and are still in use with digital backs.

My top three favorites would be Nikon F2, Pentax Spotmatic SPII, Mamiya RB67.

I am putting my bet on either the K1000 or the AE-1.

Once again, Flavio hits the mark! I agree here. The Pentax K-1000 because of its longevity, has probably taught more people the craft of photography than any other photographic tool. The AE-1 because of its revolutionary abilities, which allowed it to be sold at a price point that was perfect for first timers just getting into photography. (Bear in mind that there were other auto-exposure cameras already on the market when the AE-1 showed up, like the Canon EF, Nikkormat EL, Pentax K2, Minolta XE, but these other cameras were high-quality tanks, and priced accordingly) So, in other words, the K-1000 taught photography, while the AE-1 showed the neophyte that photo instruction wasn't really necessary. And the AE-1 sold like gangbusters, while the K-1000 was a candidate for "slow and steady wins the race" if ever there was one.

As to the meaning of 'indian' one must really blame Columbus for that is what he insisted on calling them. But it is still a good catch. I will change that attribution to native American asap.

I live in a state that has a large population of Indians. They refer to themselves as either "Lakota", or "Indians." FWIW, -I- am a "native" American. I was born here. As for camera, I would say either a Leica M3 or a Nikon F-something.

It wouldn't surprise me if the best selling film camera of all time was one of the disposable models, say a Fuji QuickSnap or Kodak Fun 35. As late as 2009, Kodak was still selling these things in the 10's of millions per year.

Favourite, of course, is more subjective. I can't disagree with the Canon AE-1 program, the Instamatic 104, or the Pentax K-1000.

I can bet you favorite is the Zorki 4... Or the Zorki 4K.

If the Zorki 4K had a lock for the dioptre adjustment,
and a better, easier-to-use shutter speed selector dial,
and framelines,

... it would be a very nice rangefinder indeed!!
