Thanks for the link even if the guy(s) do use digi cams.

Yeah I thought about that but decided it was more about lighting and set than capture. I thought most could overlook the analogue dogma and find some lighting morsel to enhance their skill set. Plus the photos are REALLY cool!

WOW!
Awesome links, having grown-up (debatably) with a TV I particularly enjoyed the Charlie Rose video.

Food photographers were the earliest adopters of digital. Very demanding clients, plus digital minimized need for re-shoots. I got out of food photography years before serious digital existed, but, shooting mostly 4X5 it was crucial for me and my clients to have same day E6 processing. Digital killed E6, since professionals shot most of it. The enthusiasm for Velvia, which pros rarely used, was a drop in the bucket compared to professional emulsions.

Hi Dan,
Heard in interview with him on Splendid Table.

http://www.splendidtable.org/story/...n-modernist-cuisine-nathan-myhrvold-wrote-one

Cooking, food and photography are my favorite things in life. I was an aspiring food photographer. Assisted in a food studio in the good old film days.

Cheers!

about 6months ago there was an interview on npr ( boston public radio ) regarding his (Nathan Myhrvold) newest book
about bread. he does all the photography himself including cutting ovens blenders &c in half. i think
he is the guy that invented pea butter ( putting peas in a centrifuge ) .. brilliant chef, photographer, book and food smith.

You may as well photograph modern cuisine because it isn't fit to eat.

I'm waiting for postmodern cuisine.
