For fans of Robert Adams, Steidl has just released the reissue of 'Los Angeles Spring'. It's one I've been waiting on for quite some time, although I'm a bit disappointed to find out that they want € 150 for it! Quite a hefty price for an unsigned, new release containing 56 images.

A few more reasonably-priced Steidl releases are scheduled to arrive in my mailbox tomorrow - Lee Friedlander's 'Pickup' and 'Workers - The Human Clay' and the reissue of Mary Ellen Mark's 'Ward 81'

Looks like I've hit my book limit for July earlier than expected. Thank goodness at least the shipping is free!

I can hardly believe that Steidl finally got those Friedlander books out, about 5 years after they were listed on Amazon, but unavailable for purchase. Lee himself had no idea when they would be published when I spoke to him about that several years ago.

But it's a shame that they printed Mary Ellen Mark's pictures across the gutter like that. That's often the key factor if/when I decide not to buy a book. I hate, hate, hate when publishers do that. The misfortune is compounded by the fact that so many of her pictures are quite powerful.

Unfortunately, it's become all too common. One of my favorite Friedlander photos was obliterated by the gutter in the recently released 'Framed'. My guess is that the publishers/designers are following the 'bigger is better' trend when printing photos and they use a two-page spread to maximize image size. It hasn't stopped me from buying a book yet, but I do really dislike the practice.

I haven't seen Framed yet, but my brother-in-law is holding a signed copy for me. He went to the signing at the Fraenkel Gallery, but I couldn't make it to San Francisco that weekend. It's very surprising that Fraenkel would do that--a pity.

OK, I've had The Decisive Moment and Western Landscapes for a few years, I just didn't move them before snapping the photo. The rest are fairly new.

Should be receiving three new ones in the coming days. Two are zines I ordered from Another Place Press, a small publisher I really like.

Some of those zines look quite interesting. I've never heard of this publisher before, kind of reminds me of Cafe Royal Books.

Definitely get Workers, it's excellent.

I agree that the Lodima portfolio series looks very very good. I've been on a "second hand" photo book binge lately.

I'd somehow never heard of Robert Stivers. I'll be acquiring a couple of his books too.

Unfortunately, my wallet and I are very familiar with Radius Books 😋
 
Our darkroom group usually has a project or demonstration set up for each bi-weekly meeting. One great fallback if we are short of a topic or something falls through is to have each member bring a photography book to show and share at the meeting :smile:.
This thread is like that!
 
I acquired 2 recently. Workshop Stories is just that but you get a photograph from each of the over 100 contributors. I managed to get a copy from Elisabeth when she visited CPA. It was about $75 and well worth it. John Paul Caponegro and John Sexton are in here too as well as some members of this forum.

There are more than 400 binders with about 1000 sheets each conserved in the Amsterdam Photography Museum, this is an excerpt...
On the cover you see sheet n° 7252.
He was an avid Rolleiflex user.

Thanks, I don't know how I forgot to include Rafael Bosco Vieira's channel, I subscribe to it and watch it all the time.

I was going to include Kim Beil's channel but she has only posted a handful of videos and the last one was quite a while back. But I do like them and wish she would post more frequently.
