So where is everyone keeping their books? Mine are in several bookcases (full), scattered around on tables, the floor, nightstands. Some are really big and hard to find a place for.

Sorry to say, I'm fighting BAS, also known as Book Acquisition Syndrome. Have not bought another book in 6 months. The books I have are already piled everywhere, including several book cases and a large ledge that's piled high. If I had the money I've spent on books I could probably buy a decent used car.
 
I don't know if this has been posted before in this thread, and do I know this won't help anybody's BAS, but Mack has this fun series on their YouTube channel called Bookshelf Tours in which photographers show, well, their bookshelves.

Having grown up in Fargo, and having met Wayne Gudmundson, I see some book buying in my future. I have a copy of his "A Considered View." I will watch for the Frank Gohlke as well.

TJC is neat guy. I attended a lecture by him back in 1999. I own "Dreaming; The Gokstadt" and "The World's Edge."

Bookshelves, a pile here and there, a pile on my enlarger baseboard, bed side table, you get the idea.

Does anyone have a valid source of info regarding the seemingly imminent re printing of "New Topographics" from Steidl? There's a pre-order setup on Amazon, but the Steidl site says basically nothing.
Do I lose some things when google translates the Steidl page?

Steidl has been promising that reissue for something like three years. I saw the open pre-order on Amazon too and thought 'finally' but who knows when it will actually be released.

I had pre-ordered a couple of Steidl books 5 years ago, there were open pre-orders on Amazon, but the books were never released and the pre-orders were canceled. Hopefully that's not the case this time around.

I haven't sent one yet, but an email to Steidl might shed some light on the actual release date.

I couldn't find any way to order the book on Steidl either, so I went ahead and pre-ordered it from Amazon. I recently received an email stating the delivery was pushed back to the end of April. BTW, Steidl has an English language version of the website: https://steidl.de/Home-0814162156.html

This one is a tough one for me. I've got tons of Robert Adams' books, the catalog of the Becher's recent retrospective in New York, a couple of Steven Shore's books, including Uncommon Places, and Gohlke's Accomodating Nature. Missing from New Topographics are Lewis Baltz, Joe Deal, Henry Wessel, Nicholas Nixon and John Schott.

So, essentially, I'm waiting for one of you guys to get it, review it here, and tell me if it's worth adding to the collection 😃.

I don't have any books by John Schott or Nicolas Nixon, but I do have the other New Topographics photographers pretty well covered. Still, I'll buy the book since it represents a pivotal moment in photography (and a style of photography that I practice myself) and I'm sure it will be nicely printed/packaged by Steidl. I'll post my thoughts if/when the book is released and hopefully that'll help you decide if it's worth it to you 🙂

I do notice that Steidl's web site refers to the book as New Topographics (2024) which implies it's running behind schedule. I hope it is actually released this spring as indicated by Amazon.

Are you saying you are considering not buying a book? What thread do you think this is? lol.

I saw a Joe Deal book on Hamilton's website the other day FYI. A few years ago they had some Adams books like The Prairie for something like $12. at the time I just wasn't interested in Adams. Now I can't kick myself hard enough.

Years ago I used to find screaming deals on Hamiltons but they seem to not have the remainders like they used to have, or maybe they get sold quickly.

I could have sworn used copy prices dropped by about 40% around the time of the pre-order start. I should have grabbed one, as it seems to have been an anomaly.
Many titles from the new topographics photographers seem to be expensive as well.
I splurged on the John Schott “Route 66” from Nazraeli but I don’t think I would buy the trailer park title.

Nazraeli titles can be pretty pricey, but they are universally high quality.

I picked up 'a brand new copy of Joe Deal's 'West and West: Reimagining the Great Plains' a while back for a pretty good price. There are still some available new and sealed on eBay for around $60. Not a Nazraeli title but it's nicely printed.

I missed your post earlier. I've never heard of Hamilton Book before. That's a crazy low price for that Joe Deal book. Is that a new book?! I paid a lot more than that for it.

What the heck is Hamilton book? Is it a clearing house for publishers' remainders? The Blu-ray selection is pretty um eclectic.

Just went though their photography section. They've got some pretty wild deals (Danny Lyon's Message to the future for 20$ !). They don't seem to ship to Canada, though...
