Aperture has a 30% off sale on Danny Lyon's 'The Bikeriders' that ends today. I already own a copy or I'd snap it up. At $28 it's even cheaper than at Amazon.

FYI, Yale University Press will be having a sitewide 50% off sale from May 6 - 17th. Free shipping too. There are lots of great photo/art books in the YUP catalog, I'm going to be picking up a, um, few 😉

I tried to resist but crumbled and ordered something. I'm eyeing two more but trying to stay strong 😀

Side note. I did not know that the 2023 movie The Bikeriders was directly inspired by the Danny Lyon book.

Sadly Pier24 is to close, and the current exhibition "Turning the Page," on Photobooks, will be the last.

Because of this, they are having sale prices on their show catalogs: https://store.pier24.org/

In slightly-related news, the SF Leica store may be the last place for acquiring [edit: "signed copies of"] the new mostly-sold-out Todd Hido book. They are my favorite secret bookstore (ooops, not as secret now).

The book is still available directly from Nazraeli Press:

Oddly, Vincent Borelli has signed copies for the same price as unsigned copies everywhere else:

There are some other small book retailers that still have them in stock too.

"Van Nuys Blvd" by Rick McCloskey on the way.

Curious to hear how you like it once you receive it. Been thinking about picking it up.

My two most recent acquisitions are 'Cocaine True Cocaine Blue' by Eugene Richards and 'Driven' by Jesse Alexander. I've been working on a long-term project documenting historic auto races in California and Alexander's work has been an inspiration.

I should have added the word "signed" -- I'm glad Nazraeli still has some!

Yes. Looking forward to seeing the movie. Love the book, I'm a big fan of Danny Lyon's work.

@logan2z : Did you see this ?

Thanks, yes I saw it. Definitely going to pick up a copy.

Finally, why have a I never given Izis a more in-depth look?!
This one is fantastic:

Thanks for this recommendation. The cover of the edition found on amazon uk is quite magical, so I'm ordering it:

Well, the eBay seller turned out to be a flake and never shipped the book or responded to requests for updates. Ended up filing a claim and got my money back. Bummer.

Just picked up a couple of books from the Aperture 40% off Memorial Day Sale:
  • Ernest Cole's House of Bondage
  • Ed Templeton's Wires Crossed
I'm not really into skateboard culture, but I like documentary photography and, the few times I've seen the book, found Wires Crossed to be an interesting document despite the skateboarder focus.

I've been working very hard trying NOT to look at the Aperture sale. I already have two new books coming via mail sometime this week, Robert Adams' From the Missouri West and Accomodating Nature: The Photographs of Frank Gohlke.

House of Bondage is an extraordinary book.

From the Missouri West is a terrific book. Steidl's print quality is excellent. I have the original paperback published by Aperture but the Steidl re-edition is in another league.

I've been thinking of picking up a Robert Adams book lately but I am not sure what to snag. I see American Silence is on sale right now, but are there any others that are a must have? From Stiedl perhaps?

A big yes for American Silence. A great and pretty thorough overview, well-printed. And a bargain at Aperture.

Mine will be the 1980 Aperture edition. Found it online at a very reasonable price. I did borrow the new Steidl edition from the library and you're right. It's absolutely stunning.
