That is a lens I would actually buy. New 35mm lens design, as a spin-off of digital equipment marketing, is supporting film photography (or at least my photography). In fact, the digital folks can have all the old 35mm lenses as far as I am concerned; I'll take the new ones.

It lacks an aperture ring so you're limited to the newest AF film Nikons if you are a Nikon nut like me. I'm not sure about Canon film photographers.

Canon EOS film cameras have never used an aperture ring on the lens; it is always set on the camera body, so this lens should work on any EOS camera ever made, film or digital.

Actually, you'll be able to use it in some modes with any AF Film Nikon, but in order to use it in aperture priority and manual mode you'll need an F6,F5,F100,N/F80,N/F75,N/F65,N/F60,N/F55, N/F50 and (I think) the Pronea 6i/600.

Price has not yet been announced. Sigma-rumors.com quotes "a reliable source" with an €849 price.
