Yup, you're right. I don't know why companies give their staff external web access. Some of the companies I used to work for didn't. Especially banks. They had a little room with only a couple of workstations that people could go and use if necessary and could see who was spending time in there.Ah ... well, that would/should/could apply for the whole of APUG (etc.) since it is not work related ...
A lot of organizations expect their staff to use internet resources to do a lot of work. And in many cases, they don't have on-site computer and technical support, so they don't have the flexibility that would permit limiting internet access to certain sites only.Yup, you're right. I still have hundreds of legal and governmental and administrative (migrated) bookmarks on my computer from when I practiced law, and I left that seven years ago. I and my staff needed the ability to access those resources and locate new ones in order to do what we needed to do.
After all, with some minor exceptions we don't even have telephone directories around here any more - it is all on the internet.
It wasn't very long ago that you couldn't do that and I suspect it wastes a lot of time sifting through websites and being uncertain whether what you're looking at can be trusted even it claims to be a trusted source.
Social media research of opposing parties is a normal step in litigation.
I think we're due a few nuclear bombs to wipe all the hard drives. Can you imagine all the monkeys running round without a clue how to do anything because their computer isn't working. Even when you visit the doctor they sit there looking to be told what to do by their laptop. Society and communication has (not is) become faceless.Actually, our legal system is moving to where the court forms are online and user fillable.
Most of the legal research materials - both free and subscriber based - are online.
With respect to office administration, time records and case file notes are encripted and transmitted over the internet.
Email is everywhere.
Social media research of opposing parties is a normal step in litigation.
Office supplies are ordered over the internet.
Legal and Court and government phone directories are internet based.
It goes on and on and on.
So by my avoiding social media. Keeping my name off the internet except for my resume (before I retired), I will limit an opposing party using me against myself in litigation? Gee. I must be smarter than I look!
Was this in your user control panel? All I can think is there is a master switch in there to unsubscribe everything. I'll have a look..hi sean
i found ( finally) where all my subscribed threads were hanging out
and when i wanted to stop watching one of them, i clicked the box and said, stop watching,
and it got rid of all of my subscribed threads !
i'm not sure if it is a bug, or if i am just a goofball who can't figure things out
but i figured i would mention this, in case others have the same problem.
I just put a warning message there so it will not catch someone else out.it was the top one
manage subscribed threads >> stop watching thread
the thread had a box i clicked ( and it "x"/d before un-watched it ...
Just like to bump this becasue I wanted to refer to one of my older post which used BBCode table but is not much use looking like it does currently...SUP and SUB bbcode is not functioning and not available in editor menu. There are posts that were/are using them which now show 123 around what should be a superscript.
AND
TABLE bbcode isn't implemented. Don't remeber if it was on old system but it is often useful for formatting some post content in columns.
The system does have a "BB Code Manager" and there is an 'import bb code' option. I am assuming I should be able to find many bb codes that I can import. I am asking the forum support guys if there is a pack of them somewhere.Just like to bump this becasue I wanted to refer to one of my older post which used BBCode table but is not much use looking like it does currently...
See (there was a url link here which no longer exists)
likely a backup taking place. If it's slow for more than 5-10mins let me know. The server is really slow today at 09:00 Pacific Standard time.
There is a page of inputs to configure for each new bb code, and I've not learned how to do it yet. It involves a bit of code too etc so having a look into it.aren't you able to setup your own custom bb codes from the admin menu without importing 3rd party ones?
I had a look at the demo site and I thought you only need the php callback if your custom bb code is doing something special. I also thought that for basic replacement of bbcode with html tag you wouldn't need any php code and only the required css for the html tag. But I had problem with demo displaying my test post so I couldn't see if was working properly. The mouseover title seemed to show it was but i din't mess with css to get it to put some padding inside TD cells so it was nicely spaced. There is a page of inputs to configure for each new bb code, and I've not learned how to do it yet.
