Hi All,

It took longer than expected but the majority of upgrades are done! I can't thank you enough for your support and patience during this difficult transition. Please keep in mind we are still working on the new system, but felt it was good enough to re-open APUG while continuing to finish up several jobs.

The cost of this major upgrade was more than expected, so anyone that missed out on our initial fundraiser and would like to chip in, please head to our (there was a url link here which no longer exists). All those members and businesses who have donated will also be on a permanent thank you page soon (linked in our site footer).

Please post any bug reports and feature requests to this thread and I will work through them as quickly as possible.

Please be sure to explore some of the changes and new features here: (there was a url link here which no longer exists).

Below are some known issues we currently have and are working through. This list will be updated as we find new problems.

CURRENT KNOWN ISSUES:

Forums: The foreign language forums have been left in a hidden state. There is virtually no activity there and the performance overhead is not making sense. I am open to discussing re-activating if anyone feels they can turn one of the areas into an active zone.

Congratulations and well done.

Some questions and comments:

1) I'm hoping that the "Like" function isn't active!
2) In the old system I had sorted Private Messages into folders. Has that sorted structure disappeared, and is there an ability to sort anew?
3) my old bookmark link used to go straight to "New Posts". If I use that link now, it looks like APUG still isn't available. You may want to put a warning about this on the "Chat" page.

Now, don't get stressed by all those small bits and pieces remaining. Be sure, we here on the users' side is will take a few bugs and flaws with familiar ease and a smile: So many of us fiddle around with old strange gear and processes manly defined by their flaws.

The location information in member profiles is limited to 12 characters, so everyone who has more information their will find it truncated.

Side-bar cannot be removed.

The side-bar customizing feature does not work. But even if it would it seems there still would remain some side-bar.
I would appreciate a setting as in the old system, where the side-bar could be set-off completely.

OK, I searched for a topic and got a list of results when I clicked on the link

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

I get the windows security warning box.

I don't know whether it cannot be moved, because there is a "Customize Sidebar" link.

But the screen that appears just has numbers in the location areas, and no clue as to what number will do what.

Although I am a Tapatalk user, I can understand your decision since they were behaving badly. Gives me pause to wonder if I want to keep using it anywhere.

In the meantime I am enjoying the new look and the site is smooth and responsive on my iOS tablet. Thanks for all your hard work. It must have made for a hectic weekend.

I really love the new implementation of the ignore (people) feature. Rather than showing that a post exists from an ignored user it is completely invisible now. Sweet!

we are modifying it now so it can be removed

the loss of tapatalk is a significant loss to me. Regular websites, however "responsive" simply don't work well on my (tiny, old) smartphone.

oh well, it'll encourage me to not stare at my 'phone all the time I suppose ...

Re: the Sidebar - any chance of providing a hint on what the numbers mean - I prefer it on the right side (being left handed and using a tablet computer sometimes.
