It was the last one he had in stock. And he didn't gouge me for it! He said he had an open order for more but wasn't hopeful.

And as dumb luck would have it, there was a Fuji rep in the store that day. She said something to the effect that she puts in her report every month that people are asking for this film. She confirmed that there were rumors of resurrecting it, but didn't know much more than I did already (maybe less). But she felt at least as strongly about it as I did.

Anyway...

I can't bring myself to buy any. I just restarted shooting film about 9 months ago, and I've heard from many people how great Acros is/was. But for me, it takes more than 5 rolls to get good at it, so other than the novelty I don't know that its worth it. Its like the roll of Technical Pan in my freezer. It will take more than that to get something usable out of it.

Too bad I didn't start shooting it a couple years ago so I'd have a reason to hoard whats left.

I know, right? I've started hoarding Provia 100F and Velvia 50 (ok, well 10 rolls of each is a small hoard, but still...). I'm looking forward to Kodak's Ektachrome being released hopefully later this year.

In the meantime, if you're looking for a great B&W film, I REALLY like Ilford's HP5+. I've shot it from 400 to 1600, and like it a lot more than I do Delta 3200. HP5+ is da bomb (or "the bees knees" if you prefer). I've even shot some at 1600 and sent it through DR5 Film Lab's proprietary process to get back B&W slides, and they looked great! Ilford's FP4+ is my runner-up film, and for Infrared I tend to shoot the Rollei IR400S.

So far my favorites that I’m starting a running supply of are TMAX100, PanF+ 50, and Delta 3200, Though I do need a 400 speed to get. So far TMAX 400 hasn’t sunk in, so I should give HP5+ a good go. (I’m shooting a roll of XP2 super at the moment, but I can’t see getting serious about a C41 black and white.)

I'm sitting on several dozen rolls of Acros in 120 size. Most is past date, but all is frozen. I love this film and will lament its passing, when my stash is depleted.

i still kick myself for not ordering 100 rolls of this when B&H had it for $1.60 a roll.

Yes, you read that right. $1.60 a roll. God help me.

Still, I do have about 50 rolls collected over time -- every order I'd buy a couple more pro packs. At the rate I shoot it, I probably have a lifetime supply (I am almost 70).

I have almost no use for 100 speed film but when I needed a slower film I always got Acros as it was the cheapest B&W film here in Tokyo.
It's still selling for $4.60 (120) $5.20 (135) here in Tokyo.
What I liked about the film was that it virtually has no reciprocity failure. For long exposures it's practically becomes the fastest film.

I have a boat load of 120 Acros in my freezer. Got it cheap before the announcement . It's great film but so is Kodak and Ilford. I would rather funnel money to Kodak and Ilford anyway. I bought a bunch of 120 TMY recently from Unique, before the latest price hikes. I love Tmax films especially TMY2. TMX and Delta 100 fills in for the Acros.

I have so much film in the freezer, I bet I could shoot 1 roll a day for a year.

I got 3 rolls of Acros 35mm last weekend (could not find it on Amazon). They had 5 rolls left, but I only bought the 3. I need to start using Ilford (or Kodak maybe). The little I shot with Acros I liked, but I can only invest so much learning the ins and outs of a film that is about to be discontinued. I do want to try it in 120 also before its gone.
