Hasselblad draw beautiful women to you. They even take their clothes off for you. Too bad the Rollei owners do not know that. Oh no! my secret slipped out!

Would it be too early to start diverting a small percentage of your take home pay to a special savings account so that you can afford to keep the thing serviced?

I think a lot of "professional" medium forma cameras used to do similar things (including the Mamiya CNN(N), especially with the 180mm on, and a Metz flash). Even today, I can walk around with 35mm all day and at best get a few side glances, but the last time I took the Mamiya out and people started asking me questions (and they were thinking Hasselblad, but were not really sure), and this was with the 80mm and no flash.

See? I'm a quick learner. My ratio of taking photos OF a Hasselblad vs photos taken WITH a Hasselblad is already >1!

Thank you Brad. The fit&finish is supreme, but what's shocking is that it's not heavier or bulkier than a Mamiya 645 Pro. This means it comfortably fits into my existing bag.

The body wasn't cocked, but the lens was. A perfect trap for an unsuspecting soul!

They do feel very natural in hand and unlike many TLR, you do not have to continuously pass it back and forth from left to right while in use.

One of the reasons I like my Rolleicord iii, and have not ever bought a rolleiflex. It stays in one hand.

I don’t understand the notion that Leicas require frequent service. My own Leicas and Leicaflexes get along quite well with their 30-40 yr interval between service. Same is true of my Hasselblads. Yes, my 1000F died after 15 yrs, but my 2000FCM has been going strong since I bought it in 1981 or 82 (but when it dies, it will surely be dead) and see no forthcoming problems with Hassy CM bought 7-8;yrs ago.
I suspect that some have bought beat-up Leicas or Hasselblads with the idea that they were getting bargains, when they were actually buying dead cameras.

I like taking photos of the ocean or anything near one, as everything automatically looks more interesting near a shore. I think it's quite harsh on my equipment, because it's usually quite windy and the air is full of tiny sand particles. You can see them accumulating on front element of a lens. With lenses, I usually wait until I return home and blow the sand off with a rocket blower, but I wonder how much of it gets into my cameras...

You are absolutely correct. Most of the problems with this stuff, other than hard use comes from letting it set. I've had three Hasselblad backs that I purchased for a great price that needed nothing but me removing a cover and applying a couple drops of solvent and oil.

The 60mm lens is an impeccable choice. I have personally tried almost every Hasselblad lens shorter than 350mm (only missing the 180mm) and the 60 is really magical. It is my favorite lens. Enjoy your new camera!

I agree completely. The 60mm lens is spectacular and sharp, even hand held. That and a 120mm Cfi is all you really need.

Just finished my first roll. I was relieved to confirm that it's a tough camera, nothing flimsy about it, and it doesn't need to be babied. One disappointing aspect is focusing. My camera came with the Acute Matte D #42217 (split-image with grid) screen and I'm struggling, hoping to improve with practice, but this made me realize how much I rely on microprism on my other SLRs... Should have gotten the #42215 instead.

Congrats on the new camera.

The 42217 was the screen which came with my 501CM. I never found it a particular struggle to focus with, except in those rare moments where there is no obvious edge anywhere near your desired focus point. Having said that I did eventually get the 42215 screen, and yes it's the best of both worlds; that's why it sells for such ludicrous money. At first I kept the 42217 as a spare, but ended up selling it.

Thanks! I bought a 60mm CF f/3.5 as my first lens. For some reason, I prefer my MF lenses to be slightly wider than normal. My most used lenses for both Mamiyas are 55mm.
Congrats on the Hasselblad! You'll love that 60mm (I do). Performance is top notch and it's quite small by Hassy lens standards (not the smallest, though)
Let us know what you think of the camera and lens.
Beware though, the slippery slope of buying more lenses (and ultimately a 907x...) is hard to resist.
Enjoy your new baby

You'll need a 150mm lens for that. Rolleiflexes do not have this

If you don't mind the framelines corresponding to a 33x44mm digital sensor, one of the most cost-efficient ways to come to a focusing screen with microprism is to get the one Hasselblad made for their digital cameras, reference H-3042264. Currently listed at $260 new at B&H (on backorder, though), which is way cheaper than second-hand Acute Matte D. The latter can easily fetch north of $300-400 (at least here in Europe).
In my case, a PME-45 prism helped a lot with focusing (particularly as my eyes are getting old...)

@etn and it fits onto a V-body? Neat, I noticed those on eBay too. My plan is try to adjust. I absolutely adore shooting with a WLF, and have no problem focusing with my C330S, let's see if I can improve before ordering more equipment.

If you rely primarily on the microprism, and less on the matte outside it you could get a 42250 screen, which is what I have for my camera. Very bright prism region, probably as good as the prism on the acute-matte. Of course the rest of the matte is relatively dim, but I don't really have a problem with it. Oh and it costs around $50

@Grim Tuesday that's a fantastic advice. Thank you! Just to confirm: all these screens fit well? I've been burned by different screen sizes for different Mamiya C330 variants before...

I don't know exactly about the new ones that Etn is talking about, but of old screens, the only ones that will not fit are ones that are made for 500C/500EL cameras. They can be identified by lacking the metal holder.
