To further the discussion of high-end AF-D lenses (that are great for these cameras), the 18mm and 16mm AF-D have metal bodies.
I don't have either of these but they are on my list of things to get since I like wide angle lenses.
I think some people responding in this thread have these.

Filed under 'they don't make 'em like they used to'.
Anyone that thinks all D lenses are the same needs to check out the pro versions like the 85 1.4D.
The cheap Ds are cheaply made - or should I say not sturdily made - but they all have great optics.
iialInteresting. I've never really looked at these cameras, mainly because I still use my F3's.
Can either be used without the internal battery?
Also, as there is no explanation from your good self, why the posting? Just wondering.
How’s the focus speed between the two?
Anyhow, IMHO not even a competition. N80 is so obviously much better.

Thanks for chiming in.
I think focus speed on both is the same. The both do have the same focus chip. I have all three in front of me N55, N75, N80 and F100. The F100 is clearly faster but the other three are identical from what I can tell.
For me the small size and light weight of the N75/N55 come in very handy at times.
I was recently traveling with the N55 which is lighter than both at only 350g.

I was thinking more of the screwdriver motor.
How fast is it?
..
So, yes monetary inexpensive but to me; valuable! it is a $360 camera to me.

Being so much bigger and heavier than an N75, isn't the N80 more of a tripod camera?

Not really, just hire someone to come along with you to carry it until you need it.
Lol. A Camera Caddy like in golf. Of course when the film door latch breaks and falls off that will lighten it up.
