I notice that Badger no longer lists Cooke lenses on their website. Does this mean that they are not being produced? I do recall reading a rumor on one forum that they were (temporarily?) ceasing producting on one of their lenses. Does anyone know?

I still have fantasies of rationalizing a $3,000 lens.

I think those Cooke lenses are produced in small batches, when Cooke has slack time between big cinema lens production. I'll bet you will see more Cooke still camera lenses if you are patient. I doubt any lens maker makes a given lens 24/7, rather they are all made in batches based on estimated demand.

I hope they do build more lenses. At some point I want the portrait lens, but I suspect I'm a year or two out from affording one.

I recently emailed Badger Graphic and Cooke about this, since Badger removed them from their website recently. Jeff and Cooke both said they are planning another production run for later this year, with sales either in late 2007 or early 2008. The reason they were removed from the website, Jeff said he didnt like having a product listed that wasnt going to be instock for six months or more.

Hope i thelps.

Hi, I made an enquiry to Cooke this week and have been informed that they have "temporarily suspended production", rather than stopped production. They are uncertain exactly when they will produce more but "we have every intention of doing so!"

I was also told that Mike at Betterlight has two new PS945 lenses in stock, they are $3795 rather than the $3k figure you'd hoped for!

I used one of these lenses in Tuscany for a week last year. It was fantastic and one such lens rests firmly on my acquisition list.... It really is a lens that can make a significant contribution to the range of images one is able to make.

Here are 3 shots with the PS945 from my APUG portfolio, middle one uses the lens in conventional mode, the other two utilising wider apertures to get the wonderful softness around highlights.

Thanks for the lovely images. The more I see from the PS945 the more I want it, but...

Baxter,

Thanx for post these. I am kicking myself for not purchasing one of these when I had the chance. I had an opportunity to buy both the XVa and PS945 at the same time, I only bought the XVa. Next run, I am going to try to get one, or should I say save up for one.

Thanx.

Gary
