Hi all--
I have a Hasselblad 40mm Distagon C lens and I would love to find a polarizing filter for it. Heliopan will make one for the big ol Bay 104, but $800ish for one filter is out of my budget. Any ideas on where I might get something like that for a smaller fortune? At this point I am thinking of buying a Superwide since I could much more easily come up with a filter set!

Thanks,
Matt

Are you sure you want a polarizer on a lens that wide?

Otherwise I wonder if the square filters come in polarizer? A 6x6 filter plus the mounting must be cheaper then that price. Still not cheap but cheaper.

Nick has a good point. If there is any sky in the image, it will look strange to see the change across the image. I would second the idea for a square filter and mount. tim

One option would be a Cokin X-pro universal adaptor that fits to the outside of the lens barrel rather than the bayonet/thread. The x-pro holder can be had in a kit with polariser and (allegedly) ND grad for less that the combined price of holder and polariser sold seperately. I found the polariser to be pretty neutral but the grad had a distinct green cast and Santa asked Lee to make me a set to fit the x-pro holder instead. The X-pro stuff is huge so needs a lot of bag space. The Cokin kit can be had for 149GBP in the UK. I can't find a price for the universal adaptor. Hope that helps
