Banana, I am not too taken in; I have experienced what McLean can do to people with a bottle of Bushmills. And now that Sandy is hooked on vodka martinis and Errol Flynns (from our last visit to the White Pines), I do not have much optimism about "tameness".
It really doesn't matter; I am still looking forward to the trek to eastern Ontario.

cabins?

can someone fill me in on how the cabins work at white pines?

there's just me... so can i book just a bed within a cabin, or do we need to rent the entire cabin and find takers for the other beds?

thanks,

catherine

Hi Catherine

get in hold of Valerie at the White Pines, she can book you a bedroom within the cabin. You do not have to take the whole thing.

Bob.

I am not clear on what excatly Bill's and Sandy's workshops will be about. Carbon ? Kallitype ? Collodion ? Something entirely different ?

Thanks for the clarification.

Hi Daniel

As Joe Cornish is to colour , I feel Bill and Sandy are to Black and White, both Bill and Sandy will be lending their expertise in exposure / development , composition, lighting ect. for black and white film and colour as well.
During the lecture parts of the workshop I am hoping Sandy will be able to explain the exposure development process in very practical terms.

There will not be any element of alternative process to this paticular workshop, but rather focus on colour and black/white prints from negs.
Sandy has much experience with large format cameras and he will lend his expertise to students in this regard as well if required.

The four main instructors will be spending time with each student and we hope the collective wisdom will be of great value to each person.

Bob

I just made my bookings for the workshop.... don't know how I missed this previously on APUG. Looking forward to a great workshop.

I live just outside of Ottawa, so it's not far for me. I don't mind swinging by the airport to pick up a few people if anyone needs assistance with the final mile(s).... just PM me.

Hi Ralph

thanks for signing up.

I would like to have a bunch of flyers distributed in the Ottawa area , for that matter anywhere that is near the Ottawa Valley.
Pm me if you could help or a student we can pay to spread the word .
that goes for anyone now , we have propaganda ready to spread the word.

Bob

Just had a long chat with Joe Cornish on the phone, he's looking forward to getting across to Canada to start the workshop. I can promise those attending will leave with a lot of information on making landscape images the Cornish way as well as being part of producing your own prints from the workshop. Obviously I'm also wound up about the event and can't wait to start.

There is a great article in the latest edition of Rangefinder magazine featuring Joe Cornish's work. It's going to be a great weekend.

I know you work in a public sector, but please, as one tax payer to another, let me know that you work more than just monday, tuesday and wednesday, and call the rest of the week your weekend.

We've updated the workshop page on the website. All attendees will leave prints. Three days after the workshop ends we'll be having a show and benefit auction in Toronto. Check it out here: Dead Link Removed. We also have a pdf that you can download here: Dead Link Removed

Later in the week or next week we'll have fliers available to anyone within a 100miles or so who wouldn't mind circulating a few to their camera clubs, schools, camera shops...

The Fliers are at Elevator
We have fliers printed for the Callow workshop in July (if you haven't yet you need to check it out Dead Link Removed) and The Brits and Yanks invade October workshop. We could realy use some help with distribution. If you need fliers let me know and I'll see that you get some. Or if you're in the area, stop by and pick some up.

Thanks for the link Dinesh. Great article! I'm very much looking forward to meeting Joe and Sandy... and even seeing Bob and Les' mugs again. And I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to this workshop in general. Got a message from a couple folks, one from the UK, that had signed up as well. Looks like it is going to be a good group. Although I don't want summer to go by too fast, I can't wait to get up there!

Having spent a great week in February photographing around the White Pines area I'm looking forward to seeing the same location in the fall, the colours promise to be amazing. We found many excellent locations in February and I guess that there are many places we couldn't access then that will present themselves in October. I know that Joe Cornish will show many ways to capture the beauty of the place and he is a very giving photographer when it comes to teaching. He holds nothing back.

I'm looking forward to meeting up with a number of photographers that I've met during the past three years, not the least Mr Schwab.

Why thank you Les! I too am so very much looking forward to this. I've been going through fellow photographer withdrawl after the Photostock gig this year and need a fix of like minded photo folks. You, my friend, are the icing on the cake.

On another note, I am hoping to drag my wet plate rig behind me for the journey in hopes of pouring some plates while out in the woods and also doing some portraits if there is time. Anyone have any ideas of the problems I might face trying to bring collodion over the border?

Thanks again Les!
