ok here it is
i don't care the format i don't care the format
if there was a be all to end all fixed lens camera, not a variable focallength zoom
or a camera that could convet to different film or format types .. just one and that's it ,,
what would it be ?

a holga body with a noctalux lens? a 8x10 hobo ( remember those? ) with a 47mm superangulon xl? or would it be
something like a swing lens panorama camera with a leitz lens ? see, i don't care if you mix and match ..
what would it be, and why ?

mine would be a delmar box camera with a 6" ilex seminat only shot at 1/15thS
because box cameras are quick ez and fun, and the seminat is probably the funnerist lens made.

I've got to agree with the SWC. Best (film) camera ever made. Amazingly simple, spectacular lens, even the viewfinder works really well. Great for just about everything other than Safari.

Fujifilm GF670. There simply is no sharper lens. Maybe as sharp, but none are sharper. Ultra portable, travels all over the world with me. Exquisite viewfinder, inaudible shutter, fits in a jacket pocket or over the shoulder. Best $1600 I have EVER spent on photo gear.

There is no such thing as a do everything fixed lens camera. But staying with fixed lens cameras.
Bulk not a problem? Medalist, late model w coated and anodized lens. Medalist II lacks fine focus and I rarely use flash. Or Rolleiflex.
Small, a folding Contessa or Retina.
Smaller, a Rollei 35 or Contax T3
Smallest, Minox

... Or Rolleiflex ...

How could I forget ... Yes !

Konica Hexar AF

Good choice for 35mm fixed lens cameras - I have my fourth Hexar AF (I always come back to this little gem) !
---
In terms of a fixed-lens 35mm camera, I would prefer a mechanical and battery-independent device - maybe my beloved Konica III rangefinder.

Rolleiflex is the be all, end all, unless part of the be all and end all is being small enough to fit in a pocket.

TLR -- I have an Minolta Autocord but would pick a 2.8 Rolleiflex as the ultimate.... or maybe a tele Rollei....
