Regardless of personal politics I will never understand how such a large number of people willingly participated in extermination. I could not and would not even acknowledging the result would mean my own extermination. I am neither saint nor barbarian.

Another chilling example of the Nazi killing machine at Auschwitz Birkenau was the personal photo album of Karl Hoecker, adjutant to the final camp commander. This photo album shows the Nazi officers and other personnel at their leisure. That link is even more disturbing than the graphic pictures of the victims.
