Lol, this kind of feels like a Southwest airlines commercial (Say "yes" Kodak!)...

TMY-2, amazing stuff, and amazing it came along when it did. i'm glad for it.

and Tri-x, the legend.

I do miss some of their papers though. Elite was especially nice.

Ektar 100; Plus-X 120 (and 35mm); XTol; HC-110 -- all things I use regularly. Do I miss some things? Undoubtedly, but I'm still grateful for what is left.

But then the university darkroom I have been associated with in one form or another for the past 30+ years has always used Kodak chemicals -- the usual suspects, Dektol, D-76, Indicator Stop Bath, Rapid Fixer and HCA. Students are free to supply alternates for their own use. There was a shift from powder fixer to Rapid Fixer a long while back, but that's it until recently.

And it has also has been interesting noting the changes in brand and types of photopaper the students use over that period...the student supplies their own paper and we supply the above chemicals, a place to use them and plenty of time to do it.

I may not always shoot Kodak, but I can definitely say I hope I always can shoot Kodak. From Ektar to Ektachrome, from Porta to Plus-X, what is left to shoot is truly cherished. Thank you.

Kodak, gave us the nice bright colors.
They gave us the greens of summers.
And, made us think all the world's a sunny day.

Oh Yeah !

And thank you for superb quality control. I've never found a flaw in a single product over many years.

They are my raison d'être.

I'd like to thank Kodak for being so cheap, even in Japan. Kodak film is available all over the place!

Thanks for making what few products you have left good quality ones. Your extensive product line that gave us out-of-this-world creative control over our images by giving us a complete palette has gone down the toilet, but at least the quality of your few remaining products has not.

Thanks to Kodak, and my Dad's efforts there, as kids my brother and I were fed, clothed, entertained and to a great extent, educated.

And my parents (now in their 80s) enjoyed a third of a century of well remunerated working life, and since then a quarter century of happy and secure retirement.

And I've enjoyed a lifelong passion.

By buying Kodak's first rate products, I do what I can to show appreciation.

If I'm going to shoot color, I shoot with Kodak, especially Ektar and the New Portra. I'm playing around with a ton of different black and white emulsions, but odds are good that I'm developing them in HC-110.

Rather than be bitter that I only had a year to discover and shoot Kodachrome, I'm thankful the film ever existed and that I was able to expose so much of it.

Last night I developed a roll of 45 year old Kodak Verichrome Pan 120 film given to me by my Aunty in super strength HC-110. (A few faint images came through) After that I developed a couple of my own rolls of Tri-X in XTol. What struck me was how very good the modern products are. Sure, many favourites have disappeared but what we do have left is fantastic. I also use Ilford and Fuji film occasionally but keep coming back to old yeller!

While the film was drying I was scanning 40 year old Kodachrome negatives my father had given me so he could put together an album of prints. Most were still in pretty good shape. (yes, it's fun being the family photo guru!)

Yeah - Kodak are right up there alongside Live Aid, Dr Christiaan Barnard, Mother Teresa and the Sally Army!
Did so much good and never made a bean out of any of us!
Sorry to spoil the Kodak love-in, but somebody has to be the cynical old git around here! ;-)

I thank Kodak for making Plus-X, D-76, and Elite Chrome 100; my main tools for photography.

I also thank them for having made Kodachrome for as long as they did.

Thanks to Kodak for being so much to us for so long. You set the standard for the world in many ways. I'm sorry the people in charge didn't always make good decisions, but so it is.

Thanks for Kodachrome. It was fun (mostly) while it lasted! Which in my case was 36 years.

since I started fiddling with reversal processing almost a year ago, I've been using FP4+. I'd like to thank Kodak for making the developer that make my black and white slides possible: Dektol!

Some of us here are upset over some of Kodak's business decisions, but they've done a damn good job of making great products like Kodachrome, so we must be thankful for that, even though the fabled great Kodak films of olde are gone. Maybe I will buy a few rolls of Plus-X next time I make an order from Freestyle just to thank them for their contribution to photography (But I'll probably stick with ilford for B&W film out of stubborness :D)
