To bad they won't ship. I saw a few things I'd like to bid on.

thanks

Thanks a lot. What are you trying to do, give us all Cardiac Arrest? Lots of very interesting goodies to say the least.

You missed this line:

If you would like your item shipped please contact Mike with the UPS Store at 512-484-6838

I looked and didn't see where this is... got a link?

When you click on an item where it has the removal info it say view all. Click the link and it's there.

Oh, okay. Thank you. I looked at some other auctions and the options were different. I can't even begin to fathom what it what cost to have UPS pick up the item, package it and then deliver it. It wouldn't surprise me if a wooden 8x10 camera would cost well over $100 to ship that way even at less than 100 miles distance.

What was the Texas State University doing with all of these old cameras?

My thought exactly....Regards (What were they doing with all of those old cameras?)

Those UPS and similar package stores can run up a $150 dollar tab to ship a feather. No deals here.

That's a bit of an exaggeration  but they are extremely pricey even if you take the item into one of their stores for packing. What boggles the mind is what would they charge if they have to pick up the item too? In that case, maybe they would charge $100 to ship a feather.

The point is, don't bid until you have a really good idea how much you'll be charged for shipping... or unless you intend to pick up the item(s).

People like to donate old stuff to universities in hopes the items will be placed in a museum. The auction site refers to the Wittliff Gallery at Texas State (real name Southwest Texas State University). Educated guess says the cameras were donated to the university at some point but are now excess to the museum's display areas or theme.

I do not know of such gifts and thus collections at universities over here.

I dont know such a university in europe like 40000 students and each pay 80.000 to 120.000 dollars for a year. 5 billion dollars a year for one university and there are least 4000 universities in USA.

I have friends and family in Austin, but nothing looks all that great. Maybe some of the Canon 7 Range finders but without hearing the shutter slap its too risky. A lot of the lenses look terrible but there is no way to know if its dirt or haze or fungus. Good luck to buyers! Hopefully they dont bin the unsold stuff.

I have a brother in Austin but he has too much on his plate to deal with something like this for me. I'm not going to ask him.
