Prego!
They also have the chemicals for black and white slides by Bellini. It takes a long time to process but it is really good!
In the US Prego is canned spaghetti sauce. I know people develop film in coffee, but I don't know about tomato sauce

Why have I not heard of Bellini? Are they repackaging Fuji or making their own. My Google translation says that the E6 is not the quick kit with 3 bathrooms

Great News About Tetenal, this press release just in…

“Tetenal employees want to keep producing successful products

In the aftermath of the decision to close down the firm, employees have taken the initiative to try to save the photochemical part of the organization through a management buy-out. They hope to keep producing the successful traditional photochemicals and perhaps even develop new products. Dr. Sven-Holger Undritz, head of the liquidation firm in charge of the insolvency proceedings, said today, “If the employees can make their ideas into reality, it could very well be a new start for Tetenal.” Despite the loss of many experienced workers, the firm has managed to keep producing their products without any break so far, thanks to the engagement of the remaining staff.”

A new web site has just gone online, for the moment only in German, but soon also in English with the help of the PhotoKlassik International staff: www.new-tetenal.de

I wish we could still get all the sundries that EKC produced in the glory days. Pure tested chemicals.

Speaking of the glory days...

but we can't return in time.

What chemicals so they make that can't be sourced elsewhere? Toners, developers, fixers etx?

Interesting that the 'Bellini' C-41 kit uses no wash step, just a stabiliser solution.

Some minilabs work that way: no wash, three stab baths in countercurrent with a high replenishment rate, circulation and filtration.

You can do that with Kodak chemistry too. It’s in the documentation.

In fact, that’s why Kodak C-41 stab comes in boxes with six bottles. I have stab for a couple of lifetimes here.

Some good news perhaps (translated from a post by PhotoKlassik on Facebook):

New Tetenal website launched:
In German: http://new-tetenal.de/
An English version of the website is said to lauch shortly, but in the interim, here's the page via Google translate: https://goo.gl/iRfUuf

edit: I didn't see the main thread started a few months ago was still active. Perhaps this one should be closed/merged with the other?

I know there is a lot of cynicism about the concept, but perhaps Tetenal Employees should have a kickstarter with the explicit understanding that it is a "shot in the arm" infusion of some cash to further their efforts?

Very true. Kodak produced a 5lt kit at one time as well. Interesting that the 'Bellini' C-41 kit uses no wash step, just a stabiliser solution.

With the bellini kit you can either:
* make a huge quantity of stab and wash the film directly with that as if it was water, discarding it each time
* wash then stab
I personally do the second.

We from PhotoKlassik International had today a longer conversation with the Tetenal team and they created the first Press release in German.

We quickliy translated it into English. Here the Translation:

Tetenal—What happens now?

The last few days have brought bad news for the analog photography community. Tetenal Europe GmbH, which has been in insolvency proceedings since September 2018, will no longer exist in its present form as of Spring 2019. Customers have been asked to place their last orders.

“Without Tetenal, an entire era of classical photography will come to an end,” has been heard around the photo industry. Historically, Tetenal was one of the inventors of modern photochemistry and, in the over 170 years since it came into being, the company has developed an unparalleled treasury of chemical formulas for use in the photo industry. “Although amateur photographers may not know the name, Tetenal chemicals are in many, if not most, of the photo products they use, including many big brand names. Without Tetenal, we would lose a large number of the international photo products on the market,” commented Marwan El-Mozayen, well-known analog photography expert and Editor-in-Chief of PhotoKlassik International magazine.

But now it is the Tetenal employee’s turn; with a courageous initiative spearheaded by Stefania Grimme (Production), Carsten Gehring and Norbert Köster-Beestermöller (Distribution), Mike Fawcett (Branding), and Dr. Burkhardt Müller (Research and Development), approximately 40 employees are ready to forge new paths. The new team is expected by the insolvency administrators to provide an offer to buy out the management in the next few days.

The European offshoots of Tetenal in Great Britain, Poland, and France are not directly affected by the parent company’s insolvency. “We are continuing normal operations and would be happy to have a new, powerful Tetenal in Germany,” said Mike Fawcett, the head of the division in Great Britain in support of the initiative of his colleagues in Germany.

“The insolvency administration is happy about every job that can be saved, and we wish them the best of luck,” says Dr. Sven-Holger Undritz, the court-appointed insolvency administrator from the firm of White & Case. “If it is indeed possible to proceed with their plan, it would be a good thing for everyone, including the creditors.”

As early as December 2018, a team of employees started thinking about possible ways forward into a successful future for Tetenal. They were supported by experts from many different branches of the industry, all of whom volunteered their services to help serve the analog photography community and industry. This process was supported by the GRANTIRO Initiative from Vienna, who were invited by the insolvency administration to help the employees with their strategic planning.

The New Tetenal team will be supported by the Swiss bank Rasenberger Toschek, which will help them negotiate with banks and investors. At this time, hundreds of new products are being freshly evaluated and possible production programs are being discussed with customers. “We are getting calls from all over the world,” say Carsten Gehring and Norbert Köster-Beestermöller from the distribution team at Tetenal, “not only to place last-minute orders, but also with concrete offers of help so that the ‘last’ order can also be the first order with the new team.”

The lights are still lit at Tetenal. The insolvency proceeding provides for production through February and March; by April the employee take-over must have taken place for the new employee start-up company to be successful.

What's more amazing to me is how big Tetenal was - I'd have assumed it was nearer the size this successor company looks likely to be. Either way, fingers crossed that it works out.

No, in Gernany one can close a business finally and lay off people regularly.
However this includes consulting the employees, observing lay-off time limits and likely severance pay.

The official statements had it about long term financial troubles, thus a reorganisation process could have started much earlier before running out of money. (Well, this is easy armchair talking based on official information, you likely have more insight in this very case.)

Well, yes ofcourse but isn´t it all about the "lay-off time limits and likely severance pay"? How do you want to pay for this if your business struggles?
I think all these regulations do way more damage than good but I am aware that the public opinion in Germany is different to mine.

No. Not at all but I guess this is old news by now... ;-)

Indeed. I've gone and updated my article based on the new press release from Marwan at PKI. Hoping the MBO is successful. I mean, it's not like they're the first company to try it in this field!

Is a well known chemical factory and they produce their own photochemicals. They also acquired "ornano" brand wich Is a very well known and historical photochemical companies here in Italy.
The E6 kit is the long process

Is there a comprehensive listing of all current photo chemical manufacturers World-wide who offer chemistry to the public?

Maybe we should make a list and maintain it, as this type of discussion comes up fairly frequently.

I don't think the chemical manufactures will be selling directly to the public. Rather we need to buy from resellers and those that formulate products from bulk chemicals.

Photographer's Formulary
Bostick-Sullivan
Artcraft Chemicals

I don't mix my own photochemistry reagents at home, so I don't have a good list of sources for chemicals made available to the public. Adox is jumping in with both feet?
