Has anyone had any problems with the tetenal c41 kit?
I developed 8 sheets (4x5) of portra; 4 + 4 from the same kodak pack!
The first 4 sheets everything worked well.
The second 4 sheets (I have increased the time according to the manual) do not have the orange / brown mask but are gray; the colors in the image are present but they are not ok.

The Tetenal C41 is a new package just opened and prepared.
Working temperature 38 degrees in Jobo CPE.

I tried re-bleach/fix but nothing !

Quite odd, my first question is how are you developing the sheets? In an automated processor? The green-grey cast looks to me like your developer has been contaminated with bleach or fixer

Sorry, I see you used a Jobo, did you clean down the machine between runs and flush through with water?
Hello .... tanks for reply.
I always "clean" the jobo cp (with lift) ... in simple mode: i do load the tank with warm water and unload. But the complete c41tetenal process includes: developer, beach / fix, wash and stab. So I think that between one process and the other the only problem is the remanent stab.
Think you at the developer ? No at the bleach/fix ?

Significant problem with chemistry. Quantity, strength (dilution), possibly temperature, and coverage on the film surface. Look at the arc the edge of the image follows. It seems as if the drum were not level, and the amount of developer in the drum was insufficient to fully cover the film. This would only be true if the drum axis is perpendicular to the long edge of the film. I am not a Jobo user, so the comment is a guess.

Diluition as user manual. I use the 1 liter kit and divide it into two 500cc stocks; as a user manual. So i use all 500 ml into the drum.
The arc is given by the vignetting of the lens that does not cover the whole format. But in any case, the negative it must have been orange or brown, not gray.

Think contamination about color developer or bleach/fix?

Looking at the rgb values in the edge of both sample images (roughly normalized against the background) it appears that both g and b values are similar. But... the r value is much lower in the "bad" negative. This means, more or less, that the clear parts of the bad negative have much more cyan dye. (Densitometer readings would be much more conclusive, but the image rgb values should be broadly similar.)

The excess cyan dye is consistent with a bleach contamination of the developer, as suggested by poster "bestbefore1978." The only other obvious thing is red-light fog.

If you're pretty sure there was no red-light fog, then my guess is that a fresh developer mix will take care of things. Best of luck.
