Temporary lapse in common sense

I used an OM-1 (pre MD) back in the early 1970s and it was the best camera I had ever used at the time. I thought it was a mechanical masterpiece. I remember being in awe of the f1.2 lens in the catalog.

I also have a pre md and two md OM-1s. I agree, great cameras. In the 70s when I was in HS, I always wanted an OM-1, they were way out of my budget as a boxboy in a grocery store. But here I am today with now 4 OMs and like them all.

I have gone through all three OM-1s and removed the foam that damages the prism. One did get eaten up and I did get a good replacement prism for it. All three will likely out last me.

I decided to pick up a 90mm f2 macro lens for the om3, think it will suit me fine. I do have a 28-85mm off label for my OMs. It has always worked well on the OM1s, I'll need to try it on the OM3.

So perhaps the lapse wasn't entirely temporary?
My 85mm f/2 always behaved very well on my OM-1s, and continues to behave well on the 4 different bodies I still have.

Well, it does take longer to recover when you get old..........

My 90mm F2 came in and I had a chance to run a quick roll with it. Nice and sharp, fits what I like to do well. I think it was a good choice for me on this camera. Now to get out with it.

I worked for a subsidiary of Raytheon, we had a great bunch of engineers who re-located to Iowa from Massachusetts. Brought a treasure trove of lab equipment. In the horde was a couple Olympus Titanium bodies and I swear just about every lens, macro doodads etc.
No one used this stuff, I am a Nikon guy, digital was just getting going. Someone figured sell this stuff and buy a new computer with the change
I directed them to KEH, I didn't expect much. Holy Cow, that stuff brought a couple thousand dollars, it was mint condition, heck You might be getting one of the bodies.
A couple months ago I got a urge for a quite ordinary, well preserved 1954 Leica IIIf, it's a beautiful thing
