I just purchased a tk45 and need to get a lense board for it. On the bandh website it shows a lot of lensboards for the technika's. are these the same as what i need or does the technikardan have its own boards? Do they multiple recessed boards? iam getting a 47mm S/A xl, which one would i need? Am i going to need some kind of adapter for the shutter release because of the recessed board? thanks!

The lensboards for the 4x5 Technika IV and later models are what you want. There are numerous knock offs that will work, but the original Linhof lensboards are a better fit because of their precise tolerances and light trap (they also cost more). I believe you need to use a recessed board with anything below a 65 on the TK, and even with a 75 or 90 it isn't a bad idea in order to get more movements from the bellows. If you have to use a recessed board, get a Linhof original, and instead of using the Linhof cable release system (expensive and hard to deal with) get a "Gepe Flexible Cable Release Extension" from Midwest Photo Exchange or B&H or ? These are great little 4 inch extenders that allow you to fit a regular cable release without any complicated mechanical linkages. LF Photo.info forum has a lot of Linhof users to learn from, this forum tends to cater to cheapskates and wooden camera nuts ;-)

I've seen Linhof recessed boards with the cable release system go on eBay for $65. or so, which is about what you'd pay for a new flat Wista board new. Just keep an eye on the listings in large format. Dean

The Linhof Technikardan brochure says that a recessed board is only needed for 47 mm lenses. I use a flat lensboard for a 72 mm lens -- it works fine, at least with the bag bellows. I don't think a recessed board would give enough additional spacing to the standards to make the 72 mm lens usable to its full potential with the regular bellows.

You want a Technika 45 board (96 x 99 mm). In recessed boards, Linhof has two versions, one for Copal 0 shutters, the other for Compur 0 shutters.
