Since this thread debuted, I've bought 2 classic Nikon AF lenses and a Nikon flash. I blame it all on the OP.

I'm complete with film cameras, I try feeble forays into the electron (di#$@al) cameras. Jeesh I need practice.

My recommendation is buy nice stuff that you can afford. You don't need expensive stuff to make great pictures.

I tell my wife that I'm a curator and am preserving this stuff for future generations. I think she believes it

I'm shopping for AF lenses now. The quest continues...

Nice bag, BTW! What's the second body?

If I am not wrong, all the F Nikons have had an integrated motor drive since the F4.

Yes. But I was referring to the high-speed motor drive MB-40 for the F6, still available new from B&H.

I have always wanted an F4. But I am happy enough with my F90x that I don't need it.

An F with a DE-1 finder however...

It's not really a motordrive, it's a battery pack. Takes 8 AA batteries instead of the two lithiums the regular F6 takes.

Oh I mislead, unintentionally, that's a product shot from the old Tamrac company catalog, before China Inc they made these bags and straps in California. I've got Tamrac QR strap ends on almost every camera I have, I just grab a strap and go.
BTW it's the F4 with a Nikon 300mm f4 AF (no D chip) and the other body is a Nikon F3 with I'm assuming is a normal lens. That bag is pretty huge.
Also BTW I've got the Nikon 300 f4 AF has ED glass, internal focusing, it's the old motor in the camera but it's absolutely beautiful lens, all metal, built-in lens hood, drop in filter holder for 39mm screw in Nikon filters. Nice really nice copies can be had for 300-400 USD, including tax and delivery.

Love the thread. Love the Leica M lovers just wanting to share some of the Leica love. Love that Black Sheep of the F Family was cheap enough I could buy two! Those crazy lockdown buttons? Yeah. Love them. An advanced camera I can't screw up the settings on, and has the MF-type of heft to make holding steady easy. Folks don't talk about the ergonomics whereby a larger object can be easier to hold steady than a smaller (say my F100), but the truth is... bigger CAN be better in this way... sometimes and for some folks. Probably should sell the FM2n and F100.... but not yet.

I’m not one of those amateurs. :D However, I think that’s a valid consideration for any camera with advanced electronics. It’s the main reason I own fully mechanical cameras.

Wait... it just occurred to me in your response to my thread. You own fully mechanical cameras, but you bought an electronic camera? I'm so confused now.....

Yes, I bought a camera dependent on electronics. It's the only way to get auto focus. I do own fully-mechanical film cameras that are not dependent on electronics to function. I have two Canon DSLRs, so I'm not anti-electronics. Sorry if it came across that way.

You haven't got anything to apologize for. You could take pictures with a potato if it makes you happy. I just remembered you saying somewhere that you had fully mechanical cameras, but I thought you were anti-electronics so I got a bit discombobulated. I've had about 5 cups of coffee too many this morning.

I'm anticipating the need for AF as my grandchildren mature.

613 Super Pro. If it's that full probably would be too heavy to carry comfortably. It should arrive today.

I'm assuming you bought it used? They aren't available anywhere that I can find online. I've been looking for a bigger bag than my Peak Design messenger.

Yeah, there's some of the vintage Tamrac stuff out there, made in California, higher quality than a lot of the new imported stuff. I've had good luck with Lowepro lens cases, those are made in China. I bought a couple Billingham bags, small, made in England, leather straps, solid brass fittings, I got a nice used one from KEH, made for sale by Leica dealers. The new price would have put me into cardiac arrest. :D.
I can't afford new stuff. The tail end of 2019 I was freshly retired I bought a couple new items, had to eat beans and rice for 6 months to pay for it

I've used a Lowepro Slingshot 300 for nearly a decade. Last year I bought a Peak Design Messenger 15. There's a fine line between too big and uncomforatable, and too small, and I haven't found that line yet.

I received the Tamrac bag today. It's about the size of a microwave (small microwave :D) I need something that I can use for traveling by auto. This will be perfect. It's way crazy big for me to use on a day out.
